Hey Ron, welcome to the forum. Some guys were upgrading them at the dealer level once in a while. But now, sometime after the first of the year, they did make it a stand-alone option at the time of order. We ordered our trailer the end of March and they were available but the dealer "forgot" to order them so we had to do it at the dealer level but it was possible to make it a factory order.

Thanks for the welcome, yes we ordered our trailer last October and picked it up in January 12 on the way south. It is good to know that folks can now get the better tires upon ordering today. Also wanted a heat pump and also said that couldn't be done has that changed also? Happy Campin.........Ron

Don't think that one has changed yet. One nice surprise I did get however, is on the factory order sheet the second AC unit is listed as a 13.5 k, but our second unit came in as a 15k unit. Two 15k units really are better for the 40' trailers. Also about the same time as the tire upgrade, an outdoor entertainment system became a forced option for our floorplan. So, we didn't order it, but got it anyway.

I just had a blow out and I have Goodyear Marathons. I went to tire specialist and asked for a replacement and had to wait a week to have it brought in. I have a 2009 2980RL and the tires are 2008. I have put well over 10,000 miles on the trailer and this was my first blow out. However, after reading all the experiences I am not sure I should have replaced my blow out with a Marathon. I guess only time will tell and hope my next flat tire is not a blow out.

Biggjb,
Sounds like you have done better than most with the Marathons. Mine came with the Mission tires and blew one out in the first 2500 miles, replaced them with the Marathons in 09 before the I knew of the problems with them. 2 of those have had the treads seperate so updated with the G614's today. Expensive but am looking forward to traveling with a little piece of mind now.

Phil, I am just holding my breath now. I am planning a trip to Tampa Bay in March and I am keeping my fingers crossed the entire trip.
