SPRING SHACKLE

Just came back from Sky High campground over labor day weekend. As I was setting up I noticed driverside wheel was close to the fenders. Found it to be a broken spring shackle. Although I did take a look at the springs when I checked the air in tires I did not see anything wrong.I have a 2005 Big sky 3670 RL with decals peeling off. Could have been on I90-94 thank heavens I was at the campground. I love my new 2012 chevy 2500 durmax diesel what power and fuel mileage. Old truck 2001 chevy dully 8.1 only got 6mpg. New truck 13.8 mbg.

Many discussions about the older "slim" shackles wearing out and failing. Strongly suggest upgrading to the wet bolt kit and their heavy shackles.

On our 06 3400 the OEM shackles were showing wear at 10K miles.

Put the wet bolt system right after we bought trailer and had them installed in Elkhart on our east coast trip.

Yes, shackles have to be watched. Our 06 2955rl wore all the way through on the door side rear axel. It's a shock to see the spring free from the schackle. I was able to limp it into the shop for repairs. My front cap decal looks ugly as well.
