Marathon tire value for trade-in
Sorry, another Marathon thread...
I am going to contact Goodyear about upgrading to the 614's. It seems that $125 credit has been mentioned toward the new tires, but I think that is with more mileage than just delivery. If the unit is brand new and has only delivery mileage, has anyone got a current offer amount that Goodyear was willing to give toward the new 614's? Just trying to get an idea what we can expect in credit toward the new set and what you ended up out of pocket if the Marathons were "new".

Goodyear never had any part in it when I did the swap. Delivery miles were all that was on them. Seems like retail for the Marathons is around $150, you can verify that with a Google search. The dealer (had to go through the owner - salesman was no help) credited me $500 ($100 a tire - there are five including the spare) towards the purchase price of the 614's which I ordered through Sam's Club.

Got mine setting in a dark and dry storage room in a farm shed. If and when I ever trade we could reinstall them as OEM or if all else fails we could make them into a pasture drag and see how they do on cow pies.

In my opinion the pies and Marathons have a lot in common.

Regarding pies and Marathons, I remember we went to a really sucky restaurant during our travels and the pie I had did taste like tire rubber. Fortunately, I was able to get it down by drinking the "cowboy" coffee.
I think any value you can get for Marathons is great, as it will also remind me my Marathons are worth something more than just sitting on the driveway holding my trailer up.
Just don't forget to check that the wheels you have will support a beefier tire. Not all tire technicians remember to check. Then get the metal stems for even better measure. Yee Ha! I love spending someone else's money. Nah, I'm just jealous.

I know somwone on the MOC posted what kind of metal valve stems they used. Anyone remember what make/model they were? There was a picture of them too.

Well, talked with Goodyear - bottom line was told they don't have any program to get me credit to upgrade the tires just because I want to. She kept saying if they're in specs, they are fine and couldn't understand why I wanted to change them. I kept telling her about the numerous people I had read about with failures and why I was concerned. Nope, nothing they would do. So, I know some of you have said you contacted Goodyear or your dealer did for you, but my approach hasn't worked so far.

It cost $2 per tire to get rid of them! In our neck of the woods.
Of course you can put them out by the road with a FREE sign on them.

They will disappear faster if you put them out by the road at night with a sign that says: "For Sale". Most likely they will be gone by morning.

My dealer that I bought the Michelin's from took my Marathon's and put them on his used tire rack and told me he would try to get rid of them for me. What a surprise when a couple months later he mailed me a check for $465.00 Bonus for me because he has to stand behind his reputation on those bombs not me!
