Flag holder

OK, I've searched and can't find the thread that told about the American flag holder that you make out of PVC and slip over a length of rebar. I think you use a 10' piece of 1/2" or 3/4" pvc, two end caps, and an angle connection but can't remember which angle connection to use or the lengths to cut the PVC. Can anyone help me out on this?

Rondo, I would use at least 1 inch, maybe 1 1/2 inch PVC. Cut 2 4 ft sections and 2 1 ft sections. One tee and 1 45. 2 end caps. I made mine a few years ago and it is still fine....

Here is the link I used. I used 3/4 inch PVC, and it works great! http://www.missouriscenicrivers.com/...poleplans.html

Thanks guys! Now I can go out and get the material and make my flag pole so I can take it with me next weekend for the "Christmas in July" celebration at the local campground and show my patriotism along with it too! Menards has a solar powered light to go on the flag pole also so I think I'll get that right along with the supplies for the pole! Thanks again!

I used 1" pvc. I have two, one for Old Glory and one for US Army Retired.

I have that set up for two, US Flag, and USMC flag. It works well.

I modified mine. The original specs called for drilling a hole through the upper stanchion to clip the flag on. My modification was to dremmel cut about 1/2 inch off of a pvc union, two for each pole. Then I purchased electrical wire clamps made of plastic that slipped over the 3/4" pvc. I put the open end over the flag grommet and tie-wrapped it. The upper part slips on the pvc, then the piece of union slips up against the upper plastic electrical slip on, then the other part of the union goes on the bottom and then the bottom of the flag. this gives opposing force on the two grommets and their connection. The unions slip up and down so you can use different size flags without having to drill holes again. The electrical wire holder will rotate around the PVC when wind is blowing and keep the flag from getting all wrapped up around the pvc when it is attached with eye hooks.

Happy trails.

Wayne-- Do you have any pictures of your modification? I think I understand what you did but "a picture is worth a thousand words" as they say! If you don't want to put them here on the thread just email them to me! Thanks!
