New and good slide awning idea....

I ran across this slide awning and have contacted the company for more information, I may get one of these, it looks like a great idea, and may solve some of the problems of the conventional awnings for our units.

Now that looks interesting. If I didn't already have the slide toppers I would seriously have to consider them.

I like the fact that they have a limited lifetime warrenty. The ones that most of us have now, clean themselves off when they rollup and the leaves and branch's fall off the edge to the ground. It looks like this one could have debris roll up into the box.

I'm with ya 5er,
Saw the same potential for rolling the junk into the housing.

That looked like a potential problem I saw as well, I am awaiting contact from the company.
I was concerned about wet leaves and maybe sticks and branches, if they did not fall off. I do like the incline of the fabric, that would tend to clean it some.

Ozz,

Marathon Coach has been using them on their Prevost bus conversions for some time now. They are pretty slick.

Thanks, Montana Sky, I wondered if they have been in use.

Looks like it mounts on the roof, not on the body of the coach. Hmmm?
It doesn't show mounting, etc. But it is quite interesting

CampingWorld also carries a brand of the awning fabric housing. I just don't know if you can add it on to a previously installed awning or if you have to buy it in conjuction with an awning.

I will soon have to replace all 3 slider covers because the have delaminated and now look like a piece of screen. I hope the new replacements are better than the factory originals.

Ozz - did you buy these yet! Hurry - I'm anxious to hear how they worked out!

Carefree has a covered type, but the tube is on the slide instead of the coach. They are pricey:

Saw something very similar (might have been the same thing but since I didn't get the name ????) this past weekend at 4Seasons RV in Abilene KS. Installed on a Class A coach. The box sits on the side of the coach above the slide out (not on the roof) and has a very stiff 'broom' that wipes the fabric as it comes into the canister. If a leaf happens to stick to the fabric it shouldn't be any problem as it would be very thin. Sticks and stuff are brushed off. Didn't ask them cost (or if they were even available for the 5ers) as some guys car caught fire just off the off-ramp and we were all gawking that that for the next few minutes while the local volunteer fire department did their thing.
