water taste

I have searched around and didnt find anything about the taste of water, I hav'nt gotten my filter installed yet and we are getting a plastic taste in the kitchen water. we didnt have this in the other rig and it's the same water lines to the RV. I was thinking of puting some water/bleach in the water tank and pump it thru and then flush out with the city water, any sugestions?

When one of our 5ers was first new we had this same thing. We used bottled water until it disappeared. It will, don't remember how long. We've gotten use to using bottled water for coffee and drinking as I seem to have a problem with a lot of city water. I'm not sure if the bleach will take the plastic taste out but it wouldn't hurt to try since this is how you sanitize water.
Happy trails....................

Hi Bob and Lee,
Read the directions for 'sweetening' your fresh water system, should be in that big wad of books and info.
That should do it for you.
Plastic-yuck!

Try using vinegar in the fresh water tank, I used 1 gal in a full tank, let it sit over night and run it through the system. It cleans, deodororizes, and disolves and hard water deposits. I sometimes wonder if the dealerships use green garden hose to fill the rigs. It will give a plastic taste.
