RK:

If Rich's in line fuse holder is like mine, I too had trouble figuring out how to get it open. I finally found the mating lines and did a little prying with a thin flat blade screw driver. Kind of opened a bit like a jack knife if I recall correctly. It was much more obvious once I got it open.

I sort of did what Dean did and it opened.I wanted to verify what kind of fuse it was so I can get some spares. Well at least 'where oh where is the front jack fuse" is solved. I am wondering about that "pink" wiring.Don't remember if I mentioned this before but I took my converter out a few days ago,I really did not want to mess with it but there were so many post about loose wires, etc I figured I better take a look. The good news was every wire was securely fastened . The bad news was it was a total rats nest back there.I could not believe how a installer could tangle all those wires up like that. I guess "neat" is not in a skilled craftsman's job description.

Does anyone know the number of the in lline fuse. It looks like a 30 amp, but what do I ask for when I get to the parts department?

Thanks!

If your in-line fuse is like ours is in our late 2006 3400RL it is called:

BLADE TYPE FUSE ATO/ATC
30 AMP LT GREEN

Our DC fuse panel in the bathroom uses the same type fuses also.

Found my fuse holder between the battery and the motor. It was easy to spot, as it's the only PINK wire in the cargo area. The white fuse holder has a grey tape wrapped around one end with the lettering "30 Amp." I think to open the holder I'd have to cut that grey tape. Without opening the holder, I can't imagine that it holds a twin bladed fuse. Is that "blade type" fuse Dean describes above a single blade or two blade fuse (typical modern automobile fuse)?

We haven't lost power to the motor, but a couple of weeks ago the cotter pin holding the bolt that connects the rod to the passenger side landing gear broke. Only the motor-side landing gear was moving as we set up. That caused a bit of consternation. We fixed it temporarily using a wire tie (from a bread bag). Maybe I'll fix it this weekend. We're camped in the Oregon Valley of the Rogue State Park.

Edit: Thanks to this thread, I remembered that cotter pin replacement chore. It took all of two minutes.

some times you can take the fuse out and touch the two ends together.if you hear the motor work you know it is the fuse.if not it is more serious problem.that is once you find the fuse. if is cold out some the motor over heats and just shuts down wait a couple of minutes snd it sometimes will work again

Had the same problem with our new 3000RK. Had the 30 AMP blown. Ours is in same location as previousily mentioned, about a foot between battery and jack motor. Good idea Glenn on the in-line breaker. My service guy gave me enough 30 AMPS to supply a bunch of folks, so if you are near me and need a fuse, I can help. Still at Beaudry RV Park in Tucson. Good luck and havea safe trip.

We have a new 2955 that has blown the fuse twice (40 amp). It is the new flat type encased in a black plastic case. Very hard to see. Both wires come out of the bottom and it is under the motor. The wires don't look like they are going to it but they do. The shop where we bought it says they have no idea why it keeps blowing.

My 3400 has 40 amp fuse, too, not 30 amp. I went through a spell of blowing them...seems the person holding the landing gear extend/retract switch was not letting go of it as soon as gear was fully retracted...thus blowing the fuse.

Mine blew once in the 6+ years we've owned the rig. Only problem was it was only a 20 amp fuse. When I put in a 30, we never have had the problem. The fuse was a glass cartridge type in our rig in an in-line holder in one of the wires running to the control switch. To find it, I just traced it back to the motor. Don't remember which wire it was in, white or black (without looking I think it was the white wire). That's the only two colored wires I have from my switch.

Hahaha, Bert you find that person who was holding the switch in the "up" direction too long!

Bert, glad you found out about that because that is what causes the gears to crack and strip.
