Outdoor Scare Lights

My scare lights (the flood on each side of rig) quit working. Does any one know where the fuse to the lights are located??

Thanks - David

It may only be the bulbs but i'm sure you checked that. Mine have went out quickly and i just replaced with a regular 1156 bulb i think or the 1157.

If both are dead it's likely a fuse. What year and model is your Montana? The fusebox is in different locations and that info will help us help you. It might also be a wire came loose from the switch. If you want to pull out the switch you can check that out.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Both of mine burned out sooner than they should have one at a time, replaced them with a t1141 bulb, has a lower watt (25 instead of 35). Waiting to see if they last longer.

my left scare light works somethimes and doesn't work at other times. My right scare light always works (knowck on wood). I'd liek to know where to check if there is a wire loose.

I haven't done this, but I'd unplug the entire RV unit, then remove the inside switch to check the connections tightness of the terminals. If I didn't find anything there, I'd then remove the lens from the scare light and look for wires coming through a hole in the wall (similar to the tail lights) Look for loose wires and especially corroded ones that may need to be "re-stripped" and re-attached. The wires may have also rubbed against the hole to cut one almost through. If the wires don't come through and attach at the bulb, then look for some screws holding the light to the side. By loosening them (or removing them) the unit should come away from the wall and expose the wiring behind it.
