Replacing Rotten Slide Out Floor Cost?

Bedframe came loose from wall and was in the process of researching how to repair along with recurring leak in the slide. Well, finally decided to check the floor very carefully. It is rotten where the floor and wall meet where the leak is. Had to peel some carpet up to really tell. The leak in the bedroom slide has been a problem with two dealer visits, a mobile RV repair person and my own feeble attempts with lots of Dicor and Proflex for at least two years.

Anyone have their floor replaced and what was the cost? I need to prepare myself for this visit to the dealer next week. I know it is not cheap! RVing is fun and expensive! Thanks,

I have our slide out right now for a floor replacement. Since we are doing the work ourself I cannot give you a dealer price. I have our 12' slide repaired a couple of years ago and it was $2,000 for a new floor. Our bedroom slide is not bad to work on but do not know much about new models. If you wait a few minutes I am loading some photos to my web albums at the bottom of the post. The photos are at the end of the pile.

Replaced my bed room slide floor a year and half ago. Replaced it without taken the slide out Full day job and the next day to tidy up the inside and put the bed back. The 4" trim piece was the problem. Cost was a sheet of 3/4 plywood, screws, and a couple pieces of aluminum trim for the corner, which was wider than the original. total about 100.00.

How much would you guys charge to come to Tennessee? Wait, I may bring it to you!!! What kind of "plywood" are you using? Is there anything that I should be aware of when taking it to the dealership? Other than high cost. My carpenter/repair skills are non existent. Thanks, enjoyed the pictures, all of them!

We used exterior plywood and put 2 heavy coats of Spar marine varnish on the whole thing. Also used treated 2x4 for base.. It is not a difficult job just time consuming.

I do not know if the newer units have the 2x4 framework on the lower part, but if they did not use that design and just installed the plywood under the aluminum frame it would be less involved.

A question to the OP & Drifty1, in our 2010 3037RL we have a small closet on the outside wall in the bedroom slide, & found the floor of the closet to be damp, but still solid. For the life of me I couldn't & still can't find the leak. Have you found the point where water is getting in? Enjoyed the photos Drifty, Great work!
Thanks, JOHN

For almost all of us who've had an issue it's been the 4" trim piece on the bottom of the outside of the slide. Recaulked ours and that ended the leak.

One item I noticed on my slide was the fact that i believe the slide was not adjusted right from the factory. I think they were pushing the rubber seal out to far and we were getting water in through there. I would look at your seals to make sure they are sealing properly. Also look at the 4" trim where they miter the corners, the water can get in at the top corner where the miters meet.

I have a closet next to the bed on the left side. That is where the first leak was found in the back left corner. Then the right corner at the back next to the bed leaked. The last 6" rain over three days with some wind found a small amount of moisture in the closet corner and more on corner on right side of bed. Sprayed water on the 4" inch piece for 30 minutes and no moisture inside the slide. I did finally see what appeared to be a small crack in dicor and tape on top outside corner of slide. Also spraying water on bottom corner behind the 4" strip on side with window found moisture inside to the right of bed in the corner. Applied proflex to the bottom corner. The slide appears to be sealing correctly on all sides. Camper going to dealer tomorrow with pictures and list of things to check. Also instructions on how to fix bedframe and attach to slide wall as others on several forums have suggested. The probable rotten floor where it is attached to walls convinced me to let the dealership work on it. I have been talking to shop foreman who has been with the dealership since inception so have some faith in him. I think this slide was a problem from the factory! I am going to mention the seals so thanks for that comment. I will report what happens. Thanks for your help!

I will inspect & redo all of the caulking in the slide. Thanks for the response.

Just did ours... same cost. Bedroom slide small. What is the aluminum trim you are talking about?
Our prob was the outside crappy caulking job on bottom of slide.
