Ozzie,

Are you talking about replacing your tailights entirely, or just the bulbs?

Ozzie when you start to put it together put a piece of shrink wrap over the connected ends. This will weather proof it for any where. I love this stuff. All yoou have to do it heat it a little and it closes up tight, now yer done. I find in in the auto parts stores.
Just thought this could help,
Chuck

It is a dielectric electrical grade grease, I would think a guy could get it at your local auto parts store, or over the internet.

I think NAPA has it, as I remember getting it there years ago. Landscaping uses it also for the irrigation valve wiring below grade.

Dielectric...that's the stuff...

Brad - I'll be replacing the whole tailight on each side with the LED models. Found some pretty trick looking units online.
LED is quicker and brighter too.
You can tell the difference when you operate the lights on the back - the LED's jump right off and the incandescent bulbs look like they warm up instead of pop.

I gotta say I feel sorry for the brick and mortar places. How can they compete these days? I try to give them my money and they just don't have what I need. All they can stock is the stuff that moves out the door...and not much there appeals to me.

You mean the tailights? I have a link to show you what they are, but they can be found a little cheaper.

http://www.xtralights.com/index.asp?...OD&ProdID=1642

I also found on EBay for a little less and don't know if they are the exact model.

Those are the two spots I've found shopping online. Online retail at many places is close to $300 for the pair.

You know...I could save myself a few bucks if I did get those tailights too...then I could just run the wires for the flat four inside to the tailight conections...think the DW will accept that explanation?

Probably save myself another 30 bucks...

Just a note to say thank you...

Ozz'z suggestion about the tee connector proved to be the correct solution. Armed with a little knowledge and after doing some research, I stopped in both a utility trailer store and a hitch store. One sent me to the other, and the hitch store had exactly what I needed.
If I was to hardwire it, I would need a converter because of separate lights, so I was within a couple bucks either way.
The tee that Ozz suggested took me a matter of minutes to install, complete with the dielectric grease that they threw in for me.

Done deal! Thanks again...so happy now because I lost no connections that might be used in the future.

Allright Ozzie!

You said a converter?? Does Chev use a separate turn and brake light now?

Yes they do Brad - and it may not be the cheapest solution, but I feel it is the best. Plus the fact I have a tendency for burning screwdrivers, so plug and play works for me.
It looks nice and tidy now - ready for winter.

...air bags coming maybe Friday...woohoo!
