Replacing an Exterior Upper Slide Sweep

Has anyone here replaced their exterior upper slide sweep rubber? The one on the top of the bedroom/laundry slide in my 3700 is disintegrating. The rubber is akin to melting apart albeit slowly. All the other sweeps on this slide and the kitchen/entertainment slide are fine. No deterioration at all.

The sweep appears to be a 14' (or so) piece of 2" rubber (easily obtained from the dealer).

How it is attached is the mystery. I haven't torn it apart yet (I have an upcoming trip and will wait until I return). I would appreciate any guidance from anyone who has attempted this before.

The top 3/4" of the seal appears to be tight to a support under it. There are brackets and screws at each end along with 2 screws along the length.

Hopefully the rubber strip adheres to the underlying support with 3M glue or some such and the brackets and screws are to keep the ends from coming loose. But with my luck, I suspect though that there is a retention system hidden under the white trim strip above the rubber. The trim is held by a few screws along its length plus a substantial amount of Proflex sealant along the top edge.

I am hoping someone here has attacked this project and tell me how much trouble I am in. I would let the warranty company deal with it but they believe deterioration of rubber seals isn't their problem.

Seals on our 3800 still good so I really can't say for sure. Tried looking from inside mine when slide is out, but can't get to that area. A friend in our winter rv park replaced outside seals on his some other brand...they were glued in place. Not much help, but maybe someone else has done it. John

On My 12 3750 I know the side sweeps are just glued on with weatherstrip glue. I believe I was able to by a pretty good size tube at O'riellys. Any parts store should have something similiar

Possibly another good reason to have slide toppers?

On my 2006 2980 Monty, there wasn't a corner bracket like you show, so I don't know if it is the same. But mine had a screw in each corner from the inside. Loosen and remove the screw and the sweep just slid out of the end on the outside.

Thanks DAR! This is a 2012 model and you have given me hope. It will be simple if only glue holds them on. Once I tear into it (probably in two weeks) I will know for sure.

My older Montana had the same channel with a screw in each end. It doesn't look like this 2012 is the same. If there is a channel it is hidden under the trim strip as best I can tell.

Mine is just like Dar's 2980. I ordered a new sweep for mine from Mike Thompson it wasn't cheap either it goes by the foot almost 5.00 a foot if you figure shipping and handling I got 13 feet and it was close to 71.31 OTD. I checked with other dealers and the ones that they sold were a little shy in width as the OEM one that's why I went with Mike Thompson my factory part supplier. the part number is 186422 SEAL @ 4.15 per foot Freight was 12.50 so 13 feet was 71.31

I do like the way they the corner is locked in I might try that with mine , no movement side to side My rubber shrunk that's why I bought a new rubber.
Good luck
