Red Skelton's Pledge of Alligeance

Some of you may remember him but he passed away before many of you were born. Red Skelton was a good & funny man. He also ended every show by saying, 'GOOD NIGHT AND GOD BLESS.' Listen to the end of this. It is something he said 39 years ago.

Very important that you listen to the very end! Eerie! Take a moment and listen to it (from 1969). How would he have known that this is what is happening?

Click on the link, and turn your sound on.

FOR THE FEW WHO DON'T KNOW: Red Skelton was a movie star and comedian on television back in the 1950s. He created a number of characters, and his show was watched by millions..

I was one of those millions as a little boy.

Wayne, Thanks. Red was one of my favorites growing up. In so many of his timeless stories he was ahead of his time.

I have always loved his take on the pledge...thanks for sharing. (I remember watching him on t.v. during the holidays when I was in kindergarten!)

Red grew up in very poor economic times. He made reference to them sometimes but he never complained about his early life. It made hime who he was. He was very proud of his country and hometown even though it had been tough on him (youth). I wish more of his stuff was on today maybe our populations would learn from it. I guess this goes along with quality TV.

I wonder what he would have to say about our schools today?

Not to take away from this thread but here is a link to a web site, which has a prayer that was prayed before the Kansas Senate. This also says a lot!http://www.olivebranch.com/thoughts/kansasprayer.htm

I had the pleasure of seeing Red perform when he was in his early eighties. It was the best show I've seen. He spent about two hours on stage and was hillarious. At the end he was very critical of the new comics and all their vulgarity and pointed out that we had all been part of a very enjoyable and funny evening without one reference to sex or any swearing. He was a great man, a great American, and a great performer. Thanks for pointing us to that video.
