Sounds about right. I just noticed your wife and my wife have the same cars HHR. Cool little rigs. Bought it for her last july for her birthday, she really likes it. Hers is the medium dark greay, the silverado is silver Brich.

rickety, Yes thats Delaine's B-day present, 30 July. Our HHR is Sandstone, kinda gold looking.. The Duramax is Silver Birch, our last four Trucks have been Silver Birch. Couldn't find a Sandstone Classic. But I love the Silver Birch... GBY...

We drove the HHR back from Ala. And they trailered the Classic, the HHR is really cool, and runs great...

Just so I know if it's apples or oranges, were the two of you onboard during the weighing or is that sans people? Thanks.

That's heavy for some reason...mine is 2wd LT3 and I'm at 7143. That's GVWR - cargo capacity. Check your cargo capacity sticker on the left rear door pillar...be an interesting comparison.

The following numbers came from the left pillar:

GVWR 11,400
GAWR (Frt) 4,800
GAWR (Rr) 8,200

It must be the 4x4 option, my 2005 weighted 70 lbs more and was equiped the same way. I do have a in-bed tool box and does have a lot of hand tools inside. GBY

Try this site...not the easiest to navigate, keep searching and ya shud find the "factory" weight factors for various (if not all) GM vehicles.

Wrong sticker...check the cargo capacity on the left REAR pillar.

Sounds like you are looking at the correct sticker. The one on the back of the front door has GVWR information. The one on the rear pillar, called Tire and Loading Information, has the tire pressure information AND the cargo capacity...second or third line down. It's in small print, says something like "Occupants and cargo cannot exceed xxxx pounds." Has to be there...fed law starting with the 2005 models.

That means you have 787 lbs of 'stuff.'

11,400 - 8,300 = 3,100 (actual cargo capacity)....compared to your empty cargo capacity of 3,887 = 787.

My truck with myself, full tank of fuel, the Superglide hitch, and a 9 lb dog weighs right at 7,200 lbs. According to the capacity sticker on my front drivers door, my load capacity cannot exceed 2,658 lbs. Taking the method that was previously mentioned, the GVWR of 9,200 - 2,658= 6,542 of truck weight. Now, subtract 220 lbs for me, 9 for the dog, and 250 lbs for the hitch, and 208 lbs of fuel, my truck "should" weigh 6513 lbs which would give me a 2687 payload capacity. So the numbers are close... Good thing my kingpin is 2,200 lbs.

Dave, I believe your numbers are backwards, those weights should be subtracted from the cargo capacity:

Cargo capacity: 2658 - 220/9/208/250 = 1971 available for the pw, etc.

or

GVWR: 9200 - 2658 (cargo capacity) = 6542 (truck weight) + 220/208/9/250 = 7229 (loaded truck weight) - 9200 = 1971 cargo capacity available for pw, etc.

Bert,

You were correct, I said "subtract" and that should have said "add". I know that my truck with everything previously mentioned weighs in at 7,200 lbs. Add in an additional 2,200 lbs of kingpin and that puts me at a GVWR of 9,400 lbs +/- 50 lbs...or 200 lbs over the GVWR. My point was that my payload capacity sticker is within roughly 30 lbs of the actual truck weight.

Thank you for catching my typing error, I did not mean to misrepresent the numbers...
