Emergency Operation, Slide Outs

Would appreciate a sanity check on what dealer told me to do in the event emergency operation is required for the slide outs on our 3655 FL. "To retract, turn the applicable knob for that slide counterclockwise, to back off hydraulic fluid pressure, and manually push in the slide out. To extend in emergency same logic" When I asked about reservoir level, was instructed "to keep half full, and use Automatic Transmission Fluid" Any opinions on above?
