Dish TV Service
Well for a long time I have studied and read about Dish pay as you go service. Some time ago we had Direct TV, hauled around the ole point and aim antenna, worked most of the time. Read post on MOC on what folks used and thought. Finally this week went to Holiday World, where we purchased our 3100RL back in 2011. Walked out with a combo pack consisting of the Wineguard Pathway X2 and 211Z receiver (little less than $500 + tax) added a tripod to mount it on.
Works great in our S&B. Hooked it up in the 3100 today using the 25 foot cable supplied, came up without any problem. I also have a 60 foot length of RG6, connected the system utilizing it, again came up with out any problems. Both the 25' & the 60' connections utilized the Monty's OEM RG6 cabling.
Went with the Pathway X2, due to Hook's recommendation. No external power, 18" dish, will connect two receivers.
Thanks - Hook!

Great to hear that Dish came thru. I have the same equipment to replace a manual pointer. Ready to go anywhere and have fun.

I have the Pathway X2 and 2 of the VIP211z receivers and while it works fine, there are some complications. Since the Pathway X2 can be setup in one or two receiver modes, the capabilities are different. Since the Pathway X2 can focus on one satellite at a time, when you change channels, it may have to rotate the antenna. Not a problem if you have one TV and one receiver, but with 2 it's a problem. In fact in 2 receiver mode they only focus on one satellite, but my Local channels were not on that satellite. It took a while to get use to the complications of the auto-focus type antennas. Depending on clouds, rain, or even heavy dew on the antenna, I lost channels.
FULL DISCLOSURE: While I still have the equipment, I went back to DirecTV since I have that at home and wanted to avoid 2 satellite fees when traveling. I also got pretty good at setting up a tripod antenna which allow the most capabilities like recording multiple channels on multiple satellites at once.
