sewer smell in trailer

I am getting a sewer smell inn the kitchen area/ door area of my rig. It is not comong from the bathroom, it seems to be coming from under the steps to the bedroom . anybody have a clue? there are no leaks that I can see under the trailer. It all seems perfect, except for the smell.

It there a vent pipe thru the roof that could be clogged ?

all help appreciated !!

look under your sinks, there is an air trap (for lack of a better word) that is spring loaded that may be stuck open.It helps your sinks drain. I don't have that model so I can't tell you where it is exactly.but they all have them.

Could be that the odor is coming from your kitchen sink traps...may be stuff has accumilated in the trap or that the water which is supposed to be in the trap isn't there! Try putting some grey tank cleaner down your kitchen sink drains...also when on the road we put the sink stoppers in...this has helped to keep the water from being sucked down the drain. Just some thoughts.

Do you have a entry door closet? Do you have the water lines for a W/D in the closet? When I get that smell, I would run water from each of the faucets, hot and cold into a bucket. Just enough to allow for the stagnant water in the lines to drain out. I have no idea how the smell gets out of the faucets, but after draining some water, the odor is gone. My thought is the water is trapped in the water lines and is not used and becomes stagnant and thus smell.

If you have a washer dryer prep there, it could be that the P trap for the drain line is empty and you need to put a little water down it.

I agree with DQDick. Also, if you do not use your shower, that trap will dry out and stink too. Smells can travel strange paths at times.

We dont have an entry closet, the washer prep is on the front ofmthe trailer. Imcannot, smell anything from themkitchen sink , nor in the bedroom or bathroom. It is only at the front door near the steps going into thembedroom and side aisle. It seems to be coming from under the trailer thru the return air for the furnace which are under the steps to the side aisle.

How close are the roof ceiling vents to the vent pipes? I have three vent pipes pretty close to my bathroom ceiling vent. if the breeze is blowing in the wrong direction, well we'll see.

I read someplace that there is an anti-siphon valve for the black tank flush. If your problem started after you started to use it after winterizing, it could be broken from not blowing out the water in that line.

I was remiss in providing info on how we fixed this problem. It turne out that the two p-trap vents were both siliconed shut during construction.. there was black sealant on both of the little flapper valves . After FINALLY getting them located and removed , then replaced with new ones from the local hardware store, there is no more smell !!
