More thoughts about Canada

More thoughts from traveling through Canada

Phone and Internet connectivity is difficult in Canada. A simple phone call can be charged on you
Major credit card. It is not cheap. Internet cafes are available in some large cities for about $5.00
Per hour. The computers are fast so you can get a lot done. Or you can bring your own laptop. The
Price is the same.
A postcard costs $.85 to mail to the lower States.
If you like a certain type of music, it would be good to bring along your CDs or have satellite radio.
Satellite radio is a great way to stay connected to US national news and good music. It plays well
Except some places in the mountains.
Do not take Hwy 40 in Alberta this summer to get from Jasper to Dawson Creek They are resurfacing
Most of the road and it is a miserable drive.
British Columbia roads are better than those in Alberta, most of the time.

Of course, these thoughts are based only on our limited experiences and may differ from anyone else's opinion. They are not meant to offend anyone, just inform about our observations.

Judy and Glen: Try finding a library to use the internet. Most libraries have free use of their machines for a half hour.
Re the roads. Doesn't matter what country you are in as there are roads and there are roads. I-10 from New Orleans to Texas comes to mind when I write this.

Nice comments, but remember, you are in a pretty remote part of Canada. Not all the comments are true everywhere. Canada is at least as varied as the U.S., maybe more so.

Remember that these are just my thoughts, not necessarily true and all encompassing. I know I 10 in Louisiana well and few compare to it. We just experienced a real difference when we entered into BC yesterday and I should have stated that better. Next time Alberta will have just finished their maintenance and their roads will be better. And I don't care how many bumps I have to endure on the drive through Canada, I'm already ready to return. It's a beautiful country.

Please keep in mind that I wrote this light-heartedly.
