What is it?

I just got my new Mountaineer..I have been snooping and inspecting as I go..its a 2008 -305RLT..it has 50 Amp service and is fitted for a washer/dryer..I have been checking and tightening waterline connections just to be sure of no leaks appearing,,I found under the bathroom sink, a clear plastic "valve" on the waterline..it appears to be spring loaded as I can see wire in it...the water line then goes in the direction of the washer area...my question is...is it a valve?? or what??.........I also noted during my inspection that a lot of the waterlines are tightly strung with no slack..on some of the bends the waterline is tight against the wood or aluminum framing at the curve.......would I be wise to make the openings a little wider and give the lines some slack so they dont chafe or wear a hole and cause a leak?? thanks...

William, I believe it is a vacuum break valve to prevent backflow from the washer lines? Someone else will be along in awhile that can describe it's function, and necessity.

As far as the tight water lines, I would try to get a little slack from somewhere, or wrap the line with rubber to prevent wearing a hole in it.

That is probably the vacuum break for the black tank flush. It keeps water from siphoning back to the hose

Charlie is right. On my 2008 Mountaineer the black tank flush line runs under the bathroom sink to a vacuum break and then down to the black tank.

Bill.

OK.. thank you........Now..for the second half of my question.. should I be taking some of the tension off those lines by enlarging the cutout holes they go thru?? dont want to have one wear thru and create a leak..
