Floor Damage

We have a 2011 Montana Mountaineer 347THT . Wife discovered floor damage under the desk in the Garage/ Den when she moved her sewing machine case. Upon closer inspection , found a six inches diameter hole in the floor covering pulled that back to find a hole the same size in the subfloor! Checking the surrounding area the floor was soft along the wall, out to about one foot from the wall ! The soft floor extended past the front wall of the Den, and just under the living/dinning slide.
I suspect it is water damage from a small tear in the edge of the roof covering. We didn't notice it until after we returned from a Florida Keys trip where we experienced torrential rains from Hurricane Hermione, and a tropical storm a couple of weeks later ! No water damage to the walls are present that we can find, has us wondering if the water came from the, roof?
Has anyone had this happen ? How did you repair it?
Can it be claimed on insurance ?

A tear in the roof would certainly be a prime leakage candidate. Sounds like damage that took a while to develop. Soft underflooring will have to be replaced, Slide complicates things, and although I am pretty handy, not sure I could tackle repairs on my own. Amount of damage will not really be known until everything is stripped out and the underflooring is exposed. Whether insurance would cover depends on the specific coverage you carry. Always hate to hear when folks have damage such as you described.

Yeah we love our 5er ! Wondering if there's a way to stabilize the soft areas with ßome kind of resin, of maybe thin CA glue injected into the partical board! Then reinforce it from below between the floor joists. Going to open up the underneath tomorrow to see what I can see ! Don't know if I can afford to have it prepared. Have repaired the quater sized tear in roof, with perma-bond roof repair tape, but never noticed any floor damage until my wife's sewing machine was moved! And my wife saw the hole in the flooring.
May file a claim! Worst they can do is say no,,,,right?
