110 power to RV , is tnis ok?

My 3580 Big Sky is parked out side of my RV barn while installing lights in the barn. I have plugged the 30 ft 30 amp cable into the RV that is not long enough to reach the power so I plugged a 12 amp 25 ft extintion cord into the power box. Is this hook up ok? Just want to keep the batteries charged.

Thanks for any advice.

Frank

With only the converter charging batteries, you should be okay. John

You will smoke the 12 amp cord connectors and you will also have low voltage at the RV if anything other than the battery charger is used. See if the 12 amp cord is getting hot at the connectors. If they are not warm/hot you are fine with the current load.

Just be SURE you have 110 volts. What you are doing is OK. I do it all the time. You can run the lights converter TV just not anything that uses a lot of power.

I have a 20 amp, 110 volt circuit and 100' cord to ours when at home. It runs the AC during the summer quite well (but nothing else). We've had nothing smoke or burn in three years.
