2010 &2011 3400 rl's

Currently own a 04 2980 RL which has been a great RV and trouble free with the exception of the grey tank. We are close to going full time and am interested in moving up to a 3400 RL. The floor pans are identical with the exception that they are reversed from street side to curb side. You also gain about 5 ft of room and 1 more slide. I am looking at 2010 or 2011 model years.
My question is was 2011 the year they went to the "11 inch I beam". It seems that I have read more about frame flex with 2011 vs the 2010. When looking what is available I find there are many more 2011's for sale then the 2010's.
Would like some feedback from owners before I pull the trigger on any purchase. Are there any other pros & cons between the two years.

Thank You,
Kountry Traveler

I could be wrong on this, but I think 2011 is when the Montana's went to a 12" I beam and a "drop" frame. A drop frame allows the holding tanks to be repositioned and about a 20 cubic foot larger pass through front storage compartment.

My 2010 3400RL has the 11" (12"?)drop frame and so far I have had no trouble with frame flex that I'm aware of. When we purchased ours last August 2013 we were also looking at a 2011 model and the two were virtually identical with just very subtle interior décor differences and a price difference of $15000. The 2011 did have the 6 point auto level up system but I couldn't justify the price difference for that. From what I can tell the two model years are pretty much the same camper in respect to the frame and interior layout. When set up for longer stays I do put a scissors jack from ground to frame in front of each forward wheel to remove any bounce from the tires. Tim

I stand corrected on the "I" beam size. With that change I believe they turned the direction of the tanks so they ran parallel with the frame and I thought that should put less strain on them but leaking holding tanks still seem to be an issue. I think "richfaa" would agree to that.
I believe that this one of best floor plans Keystone has had, but that is my opinion only and like they say "TO EACH IS OWN".

We bought our 2010 new in 2011 and so were able to compare both model years right next to each other. I don't think there were any changes other than decor.

I was going by a 2011 Montana sales brochure that claimed under exterior features "New 12 inch I beam drop frame". Guess Montana changed their minds wouldn't be the first time.

Well we bit the bullet and just traded for a 2010 3400RL with 4 door refrigerator, fireplace, 2 air conditioners, in house vacuum system and covection mircrowave oven. Absolutely love the open floor plan. This transaction was through Camping World and would say that the they were great during the process. This unit did not have a MOR/ryde king pin and the price they quoted me was just over $1200 with shipping. Just ordered the same pin box on Amazon for $560 with free shipping.
The one thing I am missing is the [red]owners manual and does anybody know were the best place to call to order.
The only thing I might add is the 6 point level up system.

The owners manual is just about useless. we had 5 holding tanks fail on our 06 3400 and two so far on this 13 3402. leaking holding tanks seem to be a common problem.

Congrats on the new rig. As far as I'm concerned this (MOC) is my owners manual! The one that came with my unit hasn't been all that useful.

The six point is a very nice addition and would be on my short list if I didn't have it. I honestly haven't noticed much difference with the pin box. My SOB with standard pin box was a lot lighter so it towed a bit different. I'll be interested in your A vs B comparison.

Here is a link to the Keystone RV Owners Manual. As I recall, it is what you get with the Montana.

We toured the Montana plant in 2012 and were told they went to the 12" frame mid year 2012. We bought a 2013, mfg. date 2012 and it has the 12" and drop frame. By the way, we love the floor plan and the unit has been flawless other than the electric motor on the hyd. pump. We are totally happy with what we hope to be our last RV.
