Hi all, we would like to find a CG in Rhode Island near the mansions. Does anybody have any recommendations, it would be a great help.

We stayed at Paradise RV Park in Middleton, Rhode Island (401-847-1500).
It was about 3 miles from thev sea walk behind all the mamsions. It's a small park
and was very clean, real close to everything. We stayed there last Sept, we would go back.

I looked at that one and was happy , until I saw that they do not allow pets. There are not very many with good reviews. in the area.
Thanks , Kathy

There used to be a campground on Jamestown Island. Don't know if it is still open.

A lot of my camping friends have stayed at Fishermans Memmorial State Park in Narragansett and rave about it.

Our son was stationed in Newport, RI, where the mansions are located. It is about 20 miles to Fishermans Memorial State Park. I don't remember if it was FHU or not, but the web site should tell you. It will cost more for out-of-state residence than for the local. It is close to the Block Island Ferry. We drove through the park and it looked nice. The sites were rather secluded from each other by trees. So with trees, satellite reception may not be that good.
We took the mansion tour of about 8 mansions. We used the self guided tour when available. It was a memorable occasion, to say the least, and the history is great.
If you get down to the docks in Newport about 11:00 a.m. you can get lobster for about $8 a piece (well it was then) take them back, fire up the barbie and grill them. They only screem for the first few seconds. But oh so good.
Happy trails.
p.s., look up the location of Fishermans Memorial and then Bing it and look at the Birds Eye View.

Thanks everybody for all the suggestions, we have picked a park, Fisherman's Memorial SP. Great location for activities and route to our next stop. So I guess the next question is, route to there. I will be starting out on route 80W in NJ probably to 287 then.................??????????
thanks kevin
Ps: if a route is good or bad please let me know why.
