What did I fry?

OK, in an act of brilliance I hurried home from Sam's and threw a new battery into my 3400. I had contractors arriving to work in our kitchen, so I opened up the battery compartment, hooked it up, and plugged my electric line into my garage 30 amp outlet. The next day I came out to open up the slides for this weekend's trip. While inside, and watching the slides, I hit the rocker switch to Glide Room Out on the wall panel. Nothing. Hmmm. Placed the rocker switch to In, and slides started to go out. I knew immediately what I had done, so I went and hooked up the battery the correct way, + to + and - to -. Can't believe I screwed that up!

Well, when we left yesterday, after disconnecting from 30 amp, I noticed the fridge did not kick on to gas, the water pump would not work, and the DC ceiling lights wouldn't turn on.

Did I fry my battery by charging it in "reverse", or did I damage something else? Or is it a fuse or breaker somewhere? Everything that is DC works fine when on AC.

I have learned a lesson (again) on not rushing through any maintenance, no matter how minor. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

There is a fuse on the outside of the converter, a reverse polarity fuse, just change that, you should be OK.
Good luck!

Thanks Ozz. Thanks for the quick reply. I am looking at the Xantrex converter right now (under my steps) and don't see a fuse. Might it be in the front battery compartment somewhere? I'll go take a look. Right now we are at the park and all is fine, but I'd like to have my fridge working on the way home, among other things.

OK. Found it - 2 40 amp fuses in the distributrion center in the bathroom. Both blown. Off to buy some 40 amp fuses to add to my supply kit for future acts of "oops".

Thanks again Ozz.

Super! I forgot the ones in the panel, but I knew the system had the protection. Guess they did this right and have system protection as well as for the converter.
