The DW and I have been called "Glampers" by people that would not even consider what we do. We have come up through the ranks and paid our dues, we have suffered through 100 degree/95% humidity, rain, snow, sleet, hail in tents and pop-up campers (and the nice days too)with no A/C, heat, electricity or refrigerator. Call me whatever you want, I'm not going back to the "good old days" of camping. the next "Glamper" will be bigger and fancier than this one.

I love glamping, we would have it no other way. Don't miss sleeping on the ground, getting up and freezing in the morning. For those that call us glamper there just envious of all of us.

Some of my friends joke with me about it. One of them said his wife's idea of camping is something below the 12th floor in a 5 star hotel. I don't have any issues with people giving us trouble with our style of "camping". I spend every fall sleeping in tents while hunting in wilderness areas so I have the below zero bag and know why you need a campfire to keep warm. We love our Monte and all the glamor camping items that go with it.

We've been called "glampers" too. Our Montana is our vacation/retirement home that we can take with us anywhere we want, whenever we want and for as long as we want. We enjoy the "comforts" of our Montana after a long day of driving or at the end of the day of just enjoying what the good Lord has put before our eyes. Life is good, but will be better when we retire!

Our kids gave us grief as well last fall when we picked up our 5th wheel. We did 20+ years of tent camping and made or own comments about how the RVs and big trailers weren't "camping" now our kids (adults now)are reminding us of it. Oh well, we still enjoy lots of hikes and time outdoors, it is just nice to come back to our glamping home when we are done. Our son spent a couple days with us memorial day weekend and already commented on how he isn't sure if he can go back to tents and out daughter is going to experience it this coming weekend. I think the biggest item is jealousy that we waited so long to get it LOL!

But a tent, nope, im out.....call it what you like, im comfortable and having fun...now, where is my TV remote again????? HAHA

I love glamping and wouldn't have it any other way. We could stay many, many nights in a hotel for what these Monties cost, but just think what you would miss. Meeting new friends, the great outdoors are just a few things. I hate hotels and wouldn't go that way. Have done from the tent up and glamping is the way to go.

When my youngest son, now 28 years old, told me 20 years ago that he would rather play baseball than continue on to Boy Scouts from Cub Scouts, I wanted to throw the biggest party the neighborhood had ever seen. I still hug him every time I see him. I knew then, that my nights of sleeping on the ground in tents in rustic, primitive Scout camps was OVER. Give me my Directv, washer/dryer, genset, recliners, dual A/C's and memory foam king sized bed. Those other folks can call it whatever they want. Anyway, if they don't think it's real camping, why are they always asking to borrow it?

Helen and I have done it all Backpacking, Tents, wall tents, pop ups 4 TT's and two 5th wheels. Folks on other forums get upset when I call what we do now camping and the Montana a "camper". We have always called it camping. We had a camp in the NW PA mountains. Camping it is. We re now much older now and we enjoy the luxuries just as much as we enjoyed the tents. That is what camping is about.

It's fun to spend a lot of money to live like a homeless person.

I did some camping as a kid. Tents or "camper shells" on the back of a pick-up and I loved it. When our boys were little, I talked my husband into a camping trip. We bought the tent, sleeping bags, Coleman stove and lantern and two cots (boys had to sleep on the ground.) One night. That's how much camping we did before hubby said "Never again. I want a bed and an air conditioner!" He made it through the weekend, but no more camping for us. Fast forward 25 years and look at us now. We live in our "camper" with a real bed and two air conditioners. No boon docking for us. Full hook-ups! Glamping really is waaaay better.
