A power failure story.
This is a new situation that we've never encountered before. After six days in a campground we lost shore power. Our surge protector gave a reverse polarity/faulty ground reading. That made no sense since we had good power for the several days prior. The campground checked everything from the pedestal to the main campground feed and found nothing wrong on their end. A motor home next to us was plugged into the same pedestal. The campground tech noted that the motor home's a/c was cycling on and off in short bursts. When the motor home power kicked off, our surge protector began the count as if it was starting. When the motor home kicked in, our protector popped.
To shorten up the story, the tech checked the motor home plug and found a little discoloration on the ground wire that was laying over the hot wire. There must have been a small arc between the two that was causing the problem. Once the wires were separated the problem ended. Moral of the story - Your shore power problem may be caused by your neighbor, not the campground. By the way, the tech was friends with the motor home owner, otherwise he would not have touched any part of his rig to work on it.

One more thing to worry about. Thanks for the heads up.

Love power supply stories with resolution. Look around at the rigs in the park...big ones draw loads of power, old ones may not have been maintained, one may have been "upgraded" by an owner that was a little short on knowledge of ac wiring, and there are those old, bent, dented, poorly maintained pedestals. Part of rv'ing and living on the edge. Glad I have my ems! John

Similar situation happened to us. Salisbury Beach State park. Power was great for the first two days. Then an airstream caravan rally rolled in. Dumped the whole row of power we were on.
Needless to say. Park rangers pulled everyones power and repowered one by one to find the culprit.
I don't know the resolution to the story though.
It is amazing how little and subtle the changes are with airstreams.
