Anyone been to Nettles Island FL ???

Planning trip to Florida 2013 and now is the time to make reservations if you want to get sites. Has anyone stayed at Nettles Island? What is biking like there. Any bike paths? Stuart and Jensen beach are close by. Is it possible to bike there from Nettles Island? Also any other RV campgrounds you like in the area.

We're at Treasure Coast RV Resort in Fort Pierce. We like it, been here 5 months this year and coming back for 6 months in Nov. It sits right between I95 and the Florida Parkway so you have easy access to go North, South, or West. All large level sites with full hookups, water, cable, and 15/30/50 Amp service.

We are considering Treasure Coast as it looks great. Central location to numerous towns and attractions. Our only issue is we have 50cc scooters and we travel by those once we get to the campgrounds. Therefore the towns need to be close enough as you can not ride them on roads over 35 miles an hour (nor would we want to). If not we have to load and unload them out of the truck and find parking for the truck. We look for bike friendly and scooter friendly roads if that makes sense. We look for good shoulder on the roads, low speed limits. Usually you find these conditions close to town.

Bill and Cindy, Welcome to St Lucie County if you get here. I use to do alot of work in Nettles Is. and it is a good place to stay. They have lots of activities and the beach is just across the road. They have a big pool on the beach side of the road. Your scooters will come in handy there. Alot of people use them or golf carts. It is a big place, now its been a while but I think there is a sidewalk all the way too Jensen Bch now. It also goes all the way to Indian River Plantation also. You can the go left there and ride back to a old house they use to use for the ship wrecked people. They have baby sea turtles in there now in the summer time. Around July they start hatching. You can then go on down the road to bathtub beach, its awesome. Warm and lots of tropical fish. The road does get sand on it so please do be careful on those scooters. Now if you go North out of Nettles you end up on Ft Pierce south beach. Can be fun watching the boats come in the inlet. Treasure Coast RV is nice also. I could share with you some back roads to take out of there on your scooters and miss alot of the heavy traffic. You could end up in downtown FP. If you need anything just email me.
