Power cord separation

We pulled into a cg this afternoon and went to hook up the power cord and noticed that the cover had completely separated from the male end. Of course, our warranty expired last week. The wires look fine, they are just exposed to the elements. I am assuming this can be repaired? Anyone else have this problem or know who the manufacturer is? Maybe Camco? We have no ideal how this could have happened so any advice on how to prevent the same thing from happening in the future will be appreciated. Could the cord just be too heavy for the plug?
