Even tho I did not sleep real well last night, hmmm, wonder why???

We managed to get house winterized and on the road by 10 AM, had a nice lunch in Auburn, hit Indianapolis during early rush hour, but had no problems. Hit the Flying J at exit 4 of the 465, and then came on in to Terre Haute.

We are paying KOA (Keep on Adding?) prices, but we do get a continental breakfast in the AM, yea, I know, they added it in!

I am still tickled pink with the Sprint Air Card, I surfed and emailed and checked weather online while Big Butt and Tana were cruising down the hard road! The 400 watt inverter purchased last year at CW just does not have the guts to run this bright screen Gateway, BUT, the ole Tripp-Lite 375 Watt inverter, that is noisy as all get out does a fab job, recharges ole Gateway's battery and will do so while I surf! (This ole gal is like a techofile in mud! HAHA)

We are gonna head for Caruthersville tomorrow and stay cheap with great hookups. From there?????????? South????

Goodness. I had to look up the word "SNOW". In the "Texas Dictionary of the Yankee Language", Volume II, SNOW is defined as "What happens when rain gets too cold, usually found North of Interstate 40, been known to hit as far South as Interstate 20 from time to time."

So glad we can go spend Christmas at the lake and not have to break the ice to throw in some bait.

Merry Christmas all!!!

Carol, Glad to see you are on your way. You are blazeing our trail. What did you pay for toast and coffee at the KOA in Terre Haute, that is where we plan our first stop. Then on to Caruthersville, MO to the AZTAR Casino Park. From there on to Little Rock to another KOA which is just off 40/30. I like those easy parks. Last Year in Little Rock, in the dark, we spent hours trying to get to a park that we could see but could not figure out how to get to it.

SNOW: v., an action making a loud noise in a effort to sleep keeping ones spouse awake and irritated. Example: "Man, that dude sure does snow loud."

Congrats Carol and Al, glad you are on the road and it is going great. Just watch out for those other crazy drivers. You will be warm before you know it and the kids can take their coats off!! Instead of snow clods, it will be sticker burrs!!

Old Turbo,

Believe it was about $37.00 give or take, for breakfast!

Thanks to all for the good wishes and support. HamRad, that weather URL, is great, quickly becoming one of my favs!

Al was able to find me a copy of the Trailer Life CD for under $20.00, new, not used. I am finding that it lacks in some things (like turn by turn directions to the campgrounds, cannot find that, ???), BUT, so far I am enjoying this method of finding campgrounds.

So, any one know if NextExit is on CD???

Quick update:

The Terre Haute KOA: a good one, we will repeat it as a stopping point on escape from Michigan in the winter weather. Nice staff, clean, and your wake up call comes from Burrows on the property. Seriously, a redo here is not a problem as far as we are concerned. OHHH, be sure to have 50 amp to 30 amp reducers, our electric pedestals had TWO 50 ampers! That was a first.

Added 300 more miles under our belt, got to Caruthersville, cheap and wonderful camping, $17.00 a night, full blasted hookups, warm!! We lost the last snow at about mile marker 40 on the Illinois 57. We UN-winterized and had nice showers.

We are gonna reup here, as it is pouring rain, local telie reports early had a number of accidents out on I 55 near Memphis, and Al hates, and I mean HATES breaking camp in rain. We are tired from the rucus of getting out of Dodge, errr, the Irish Hills, and we are going to nap and rest and be retired today.

Safe rides to those traveling, snicker, have to say, we saw a LOT of Michigan license plates on RV's heading south!

We also stayed at that campground on our escape last winter.Don't know why that one is so expensive.Highest we have ever paid at a KOA. Good to hear that you out of the snow zone..another 300 miles or so and you will be in shorts.

Ha Ha, Rich, not sure bout shorts, but, I did put the winter coat away!

I put 2 more photos of the snow storm on the site, after the storm, cleaning the snow, etc.

http://picasaweb.google.com/lashbroo...2007TisSnowing

As far as the price, cannot remember how much it was a day, but when we took the twins to the Monroe KOA in Petersburg Mi, we paid a LOT! They even got us for extra $$ for an extra vehicle (hey, have you taken twin girls and all thier gear for a week, no way we could get ALL that in Tana and Big Butt ) I believe it was all of $400.00 for that week. GROAN. Was worth it, memory building with the grandparents, PRICELESS, as they say.

Carol,

Glad to see that you are taking it easy on the way down. We stayed an extra day in the Woodlands because Bob didn't want to break camp in the rain, nor drive in pouring rain. Checking brake lights and signals, rolling up the scissor jacks etc is alot more fun doing when it is dry. I was in shorts all day today, and temps will be 78 tomorrow. Hope you brought your sun screen.

Colleen,

I am sure I have some sunscreen, if not, I'll bet I can find some in Walleyworld!

I put my winter coat in the closet,

We are gonna head out in the AM, after the fog lifts, looks like Saturday is gonna be rather wet again, and we may honker down once again. Maybe Mother Nature will not listen to the forecasters.

Carol,

I am thinking dry and warm thoughts to get you to Mission. We will be having a cold front come in tomorrow, but the high will still be 66. No freezing weather in the forecast. Stay safe and take your time getting here.
