Adding AGM batteries question
Will the charging part of the converter support properly charging and maintaining an AGM battery? I know my external charger at home has a special setting for AGM battery. We have a 2017 3721 rl.

Gary,
The converter will support AGM batteries but will need to be adjusted to AGM. I replaced my converter when I added an inverter/charger so I don't remember how you make the adjustment.

Gary's 17 model will have the newer converter.

for my 2015 rig, I seem remember there is a jumper inside the converter that needs to be set for AGM batteries. Suggest you get your converter numbers and call the manufacturer. They'll be happy to help.

According to the manual, the jumper mentioned is for use with gel cell batteries, not AGM. If I remember right, the fellow from Progressive that spoke several years ago at the fall rally said AGM batteries did not need a modification to the converter. He also said they make a replacement converter that can be used with lithium batteries. It would be best to call Progressive directly to confirm all this. Their warranty number is 269-781-4241, but I’m sure they can connect to a technician that can provide answers about battery compatibility.

Hi
AGM = Absorbent Glass Mat
It is still a lead acid battery and requires no special charging system.
We use them in our trucks and equipment without any changes to the charging system because they don’t need to be service often like the flooded battery does.
