Battery Drain?
Ok, had battery disconnect turned off and power cord unpluged for two weeks and only ran the slides out and back in once and today found the battery was dead? Any ideas why or what to check? The 2011 324 RLQ Mountaineer is less than 2 months old and thought the disconnect killed all 12 volt inside.

John,
Not sure if the Mountaineer has a remote or not, but if it does, check to make sure your outside lights are not on. Controller board gets is power directly from the battery on its on 30 AMP Auto Reset Breaker. If a light is turned on via the remote, it has to be turned off with the remote.
Battery disconnect just stop power to Main DC bus. Landing gear and Remote controller board get power from battery before the disconnect.

John, thanks for the quick reply and yes it has the remote but no outside lights were or are on. Will let it charge back up and try to see what I can find.

I would pull the battery, put on a charger to 'top it off' then take it to a battery shop, they can check it under a load, also check each cell to insure that it is a good battery. That is a good place to start.
You can put a very small fuse, maybe 1/4 amp, in the battery circuit, if it blows, you have a load pulling on the battery somewhere.

Oh, for the fuse test, disconnect the charger on the trailer first.

I have become confused many times wondering whether the battery disconnect should be on or off. Sounds simplistic, but I always have to try one of the lights in the convenience center or basement to make sure that the batteries are actually in disconnect mode. So, in summary, should it be on or should it be off, heck if I can remember, that is why I just switch it until the light goes off!!

If you have a VOM, disconnect coach from shore power, pull fuses on DC panel, one at a time. If there is a load on that circuit a red LED will come on. Then put the VOM (in dc amp mode, of course) in series with the two empty stabs where you just pulled the fuse and it will read how much of a load, in amperes, is on that circuit - then determine what that load is. My battery killer turned out to be a light in the basement that I forgot was on.
Hope this helps.

good idea Jerry, that will find the load.
I would still check the battery, for peace of mind,
The battery is probably good, but it is always possible it is not.

Bingo,
Disconnect just stop power to main DC bus. Landing gear and Remote operations (power to circuit board), are on there own breakers, before the disconnect. The circuit board always pulls a little power when waiting for commands. If I were going to leave my Monty for a long period of time, I would remove the battery, and put it on a battery minder. Solar is another option to keep the batteries charged.

The fix I did was install a marine battery switch right at the battery. That takes all the guess work out of the problem.
Cheers Ken

Jliveit.. Have the same unit as you, see my post under Absentee Boon docking. I think the battery supplied with the unit is not sufficient for the phantom loads for very long, let alone trying to operate something that actually requires 12v. I'm dumpimg it and adding some real power.

On my previous MH the disconnect still left the internal CO and propane monitors powered. This added up to a bit more than a 0.36 amp draw that killed the battery after about 30 days. I haven't checked my Montana but it may be one lead to chase down.
