OK... I give up! GVWR site?

I'm done using Google/Yahoo/et al trying to find the GVWRs for a GMC 2500 (2002) 4x4 D/A ext cab/LB. I KNOW the GVWR is 9200#. I want the individual axle ratings and the 5th wheel towing cap, along with the GCVWR.

Now I'm in a bad mood... shouldn't be THAT hard to find these stupid figures...

I'd bet someone on the forum having that exact year and configuration will be along soon with figures Dave.

Try The Diesel Place...it's for Chevys: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/

What you really need to know is cargo capacity so you can figure the max weight allowable for the pw, pax, hitch, cargo, etc...it'll pull anything. Don't know about the 2002s, but on the new ones check the sticker on the rear door pillar...should give a "never exceed" number for pax and cargo.

Thanks, Carol and Cat320. It's my stomping around the house whining that's driving her nuts...

I will check these out. Rich gave me the TL site. That gives the 5th wheel towing caps, which I wanted (15,500# for the setup I'm looking at), but the axles and GCVWR are what I also need.

Dave, the GVWR and the axle ratings should be on the sticker on the driver side front door jamb but to find the GCWR , you almost need the brochure for that year and you will need to know the rear end ratio as that changes the combined rating. A web search might get you the info you need.

Dave I just did a search on Google and got 16000 pounds as the GCWR for a 92 GMC with the 6.0 engine. Got a few hits actually.

I am looking at the 2002 2500HD D/A EC LB 4x4. What Google terms did you use, Don?

Dave,
The CGVWR is 22,000 lbs
Payload for a 4x4 is 2,992 lbs
Curb weight 4x4(estimated) 5,848 lbs
Max trailer weight is 15,300 lbs

Hope this helps...

All the load numbers are on the inside of your trucks driver side door.

I should have mentioned that the sticker is what I usually look at. I am about 40 miles away from the sticker and I forgot to look at it yesterday when I was there. I usually always do. The sticker will only give GVWR and axles, not GCVWR, 5ver towing, curb weights. I will call the dealership today to get those door post figures. In Mich the curb weight is on the individual registration in the glove box. I can have them look that up too.

Dave, I believe your figures will be close to mine.

Dave,
Those numbers should be within a few hundred pounds, I got them out of the 2002 Silverado brochure. =)

Dave,
I know you are looking at the duramax but just to give you an idea our 8.1,allison, extended cab, long box with my wife and I, the hitch, and a box full of maps and dirctories and a full tank of gas weighs 6900 lbs. The duramax and 4x4 would be a little heavier than that.

OK, thanks, guys. That gives me a general idea.

I called the dealer and he was going to check the weights on the door post and the registration and get back with me.
