3 major defects in one week

2012 Big Sky 3750 FL 1st on Oct 20th upper cable breaks on Living room slide thank you Bingo for amazon info, we were able to purchase cable and take unit with slide still out to dealer at Campgrd we were staying at for emergency fix this was all out of pocket as dealer would not file with anyone cause it was an emergency, we have sent bills to Keystone and will see what happens. 2nd the hydrolic lift system will only work if plugged into electric outlet, and slides were intermittently stopping when going out or in, thought it was a battery issue as one of our gel batteries was no good, but after replacement and full charge over night at campground pulled in to walmart for the night and nothing so drove to another campground as it was Friday and camping world could not get us in until Tuesday, 3rd. on Monday Oct 28th night was filling fresh water tank and KABBOOM tank falls thru the belly. Been at Camping World since Oct 29th dealing with extended warranty, insurance company and Keystone. Why could this not have happened the 10 days we were at the rally in Goshen

Try repeating your "favorite quote" 3 times and count your blessings. Then give keystone the "what for".

It's a law of nature that things like that don't happen before or during the rally.

Keystone came somewhat through for the water tank fix, we had to pay for added steel reinforcements but it's done and we are back on the road

I know hindsight is 20-20, but while they were adding reinforcements to the water tank, I would have given thought to the other tanks as well.

We had our tanks on our 06 3400 reinforced with strapping at D&S Rv repair in Goshen after two of them failed.

We also just got around to repairing the failures on our 13 3402 Big Sky that occurred on our way down to Florida. I had pulled some leg muscles and was not able to bend the leg. The entire panel between the Ardmore and the closet pulled away from the wall causing the Ardmore shelves to collapse. Every staple, such as they are,in the panel, top bottom front and rear were pulled loose. Helen got it back together and noted that there was nothing for the staples to bite into at the rear of the panel. They were stapled into nothing???? We are into our winter home and can not move for dealer repairs. .Pictures to Keystone and temporary repairs made. The panel along side the stove also pulled out. Repaired that also. Same thing happened on our 06 3400.Some things never change. We do however just love our top of the line, best you can buy 2013 Montana 3402 Big sky.

You folks make a guy want to put his 2014 3850 up for sale. I really thought Keystone was a step above the rest.

I have traveled over 40K miles with my fresh water tank full. Sounds like Keystone known there is a problem with the new units being they had you add metal supports.

They are a step above all the others in customer service.

In terms of build quality the Rv industry is what it is and keystone is no better no worse than the others.

You may never have a serious problem with your 3850 but if you do have a problem large or small you will find that others have had it and the solution will be here on the forum.

While we've been disappointed by the quality of our rigs at times, the fact Keystone is still going strong must mean they are doing mostly good things to stay in business, so I wouldn't be too quick to discount them. Like Richfaa states, for this they are step above the rest as are some SOBs. Others have come and gone and it's probably better said they were a step below. No one is perfect any more than a company can be perfect. I don't have any plans of giving up on my Keystone Montana. It's had its share of problems, they were taken care of and now it's settled in. I'm just lucky and glad that the problems weren't so severe, but thinking of the complexities and numbers of failure possibilities, the odds are against us.

Fortunately for Montana owners there is this forum, as there is for other manufacturers and for SOBs without a forum, this forum information often applies to the whole RV industry. We certainly didn't give up driving when the U.S. automotive industry had its problems. I get far more enjoyment with my RV than not and the unfortunate circumstances of others won't make me change any time soon. Hopefully we can help those with problems to make Montana ownership much more enjoyable.
