Norfolk, VA to Atlanta, GA

After I get out of the Norfolk area and onto RT58 west I am trying to decide on taking I85 to Atlanta, GA area or go south on I95 to South Carolina and then take I20 to Atlanta. It looks like I85 will have more city congestion then I20? I ran a GPS route & I20 is 47 miles longer to where I am going. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

Both are good routes. 85 is not good if you hit the major towns (Charlotte and Greensboro)during peak hours.
95 has no major towns to go through except Columbia, SC and that has a bypass.

Just came down I95 today from Wade NC to Blythe Island GA. traffic wasn't bad. some construction but other than that it was good.

I would avoid Atlanta Ga.,I 95 is a much less congested way to go.
