Going South
First big trip with Monty. Very Excited. We're leaving Pittsburgh for Florida this week the 9th and visiting many friends and relatives. I need your opinions for campgrounds in St. Augustine. We have reservations for Bryn Mawr the first week of Feb. reviews were not so good, any suggestions? Also we may stop for a few days in Palmetto near Bradenton Jan 25th. We would love to hear your suggestions on campgounds there and would love to meet anyone in those areas. We also may visit the Tampa rally and meet at the booth for pictures. Looking forward to all of this and leaving winter behind!!!

Congrats on your first great adventure. Heading south myself tomorrow. Our first stop will be somewhere 300 +/- 50 miles south of Richmond, VA, probably off I 95.

While I have not been there Anastasia State Park gets consistently high marks from friends. Only thing I believe I heard (here on the forum) is that the sites may be a bit tight in some cases. There is also another private RV park very close to Anastasia (can not recall the name but will try to find out from a friend who has been going there for 15 years I think) that is right on the water and fully equipped (though it might be a bit pricey).

Thank you for your suggestions. We have reservations through various parts of Fl. but decided to go further down toward palmetto/bradenton area instead of New Syrmana the week of Jan. 25th. We are having a hard time finding a decent place that's not already booked. Has any one stayed at Pleasant Lake, Bradenton?

we stayed at Indian Forest campground last March. Very nice campground. some drivethru's, very friendly staff. It was a short drive into St. Augustine. If you buy your trolley ticket late in the afternoon you can ride it and it does not count as one of your days. We really enjoyed our visit there--so much history.
