2017 aluminum Super Duty
If you wont a steel body Ford pickup you better get it soon. The 2017s will be aluminum. I have a 2015 aluminum F 150 and will wait for the 2017 Super Duty.
Here is a little of what Ford says about them:
/// Improved engine-exhaust braking for better control /// Adaptive Front Steering for better trailer handling /// Weight-carrying hitches for bigger loads /// Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System for on-road confidence /// PowerScope® trailer tow mirrors with spotlights for working past 9 to 5 /// Dynamic Trailer Reverse Guidance for backing it in like a pro But that’s not all. There are also up to seven available cameras that monitor the world 360º around you. There’s even a camera available for the back of your trailer. And they all feed into one screen where you can keep your eye on whatever view you want.
It will also have more power. Note the backup camera and the "Dynamic Trailer reverse guidance". This is on the 2016 F150s. You have a small dial that works with the reverse camera. You log in the length of the trailer distance to the wheels. You turn the dial and a line on the screen shows where you wont the trailer to go. The truck steers its self to put the trailer where you wont it to go.

I am interested in some of the new technology but some I would like to just do myself. I have been on the internet searching for info on the 2017. Still pretty spotty and mainly spy photos. I am going to update the old 7.3 sometime but with only 90k miles on it I am not sure when. New unit is already over half way paid off so it would be nice to have no trailer payment when I purchase a new truck.
A bit more power would be nice but my old 7.3 has a lot more than what it came with in stock form. What I would really like is the maneuverability of the new trucks. More power would be fine but having way less noise would be great.

Less noise would be nice. I already have more power than this truck will have and with only 77000 miles I don't have much incentive to buy another one.

WOW
I will just wait till it drives itself to the destination and sets the coach up for me, NOT!
All the stuff in between is what it's all about. I want to feel the road, not drive by wire, and I want to have fun doing it. If you can monitor tire pressure from the cab, then you have no reason to stop and smell the smells (especially in Nebraska feed lot country, lol) and check bearing heat, anything dragging, anything loose, etc. ( not knocking TPM, just an example).
It's not always the destination, if it was then we would be born and then just die.
And this is JUST MY OPINION!

Suspect aluminum body work will be more expensive and insurance rates will jump.

Insurance rates have actually came down on the 2015 F150.

Since my '06 school bus truck has a whopping 52k miles, I've got to wait. Even if I hit the lottery, I don't know as I'd want the DEF and regen issues the new ones have.

Sorry don't know anything on the f150. Are you talking about body parts only being aluminum or does this include the frame also?

It's just the body. They are 700 pounds lighter than the 2014 models and are more dent resistant too. The frames are high strength steel so they are stronger as well.
There is some new steel being developed for auto use. It's nano steel. It will be as strong as the steel used on body parts today but much thiner so it's almost the same weight as aluminum and much less expensive. It can be cold formed for the structure parts and be as strong as the high strength steel that is used today. The high strength parts used now haft to be formed while they are red hot.

Having the TPM built in would be nice and having the truck back its self where you just tell it where to go. Nice!! Ram and GM will have this and the aluminum body in a few years. They can't get the aluminum now. There just isn't enough to go around.

Already talked to the Ford dealer about notifying me when he can order the 2017 Super Duty. Sounds like they will not be on the dealer lots until September of 2016.

I hope they aren't like the 2015 F150s. I waited over 9 months on a regular cab short box. Then bought an extended cab. The RCSB finally came in 10 1/2 months.

I saw a picture of the 2017. Looks really nice. Kind of like a large F150 with the rounded front end and nice grille. I want one, not sure if I can afford one. Afraid what the price will be on that.

This will not be on the Superduty as it doesn't have the same type steering as the F-150 so it is not compatible.
Here is a quote for Pickuptrucks.com:
Unlike the F-150, advanced Pro Trailer Backup Assist will not be available for the Super Duty. The F-150's electric power steering is needed in order to make that work, and the Super Duty's beefier recirculating ball system doesn't work like that. Instead, Ford has created a trailer reverse guidance system that provides inputs to the driver via the multimedia screen so that the driver can better see where the trailer is going. It projects guidelines based on the cameras that scan the sides of the truck and trailer, and it can even help guide the truck to the trailer for hitching. Super Duty owners are far more likely to use their trucks for towing, so having a more automated system like the one available in the F-150 isn't quite so necessary, Ford said.

Lots of great features, but the one accidentally release photo I posted here a few months ago has me concerned. I will wait till Texas Fair and see it from all angles. I like my 2014 and who knows, it might become a collector's item, because you have to steer it yourself! Update. Did not know the Fair stared last week! Just saw photos on line. Looks better in dully option. I give it a 8.5 It will grow on me! Lol

We like the concept but how do they guard against electrolysis? There has to be aluminum on steel contact somewhere.
