There are several here that have them. They're very popular.

I have a 3580 Big Sky 2011 at 38 ft and have a B&W Companion hitch. I had the hitch in my 2002 F250 and now have it in my 2015 F250. Both trucks have the short bed and have never had a problem and can make it into any space the slider hitches can.

I am very happy with my B&W RVK3600 Companion hitch. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Highly recommended!

After 3 hitches of other brands, my B&W hitch is the best I have ever had. Plus they are made in Kansas, USA and their customer service is excellent.

Another hitch mentioned here is Anderson. Not enough steel in it for me.

What do you all feel about the Curt Hitch? Thinking about picking up the Curt Q24. I know several folks have one and really like them.

We have a B & W Companion and like it very much. Pop the gooseneck ball out and the Companion fiver hitch slides right in its place.

Hope it's ok to ask on this thread a related question. I just replaced my hitch with a B&W. Haven't even pulled with it yet. My question: to unhitch do you have to open handle all the way and install the pin to hold it all the way open. Or can you just open handle to neutral position and pull out of hitch. I am 6'2" and can't reach the inter most pin position.

Paul, It depends on how hard the truck is pushing back on the pin. On mine, I, 99% of the time, just have to remove the lock pin and move the handle to the forward, open position.

If the truck is pushing back on the pin, the handle will not stay open and you will have to pin it in the open position.

You might want to consider a small folding 2 step, step stool and carry it in the truck bed. I need to stand on one to reach the hitch so I can insert the lock pin in the lever when hooking up.

If you are slightly pulling forward on the hitch when you move the lever forward the hitch will unlatch, truck will move forward about 1-3" and handle will stay open.

I also use the step stool to stand on when filling my 60 gal RDS in-bed tank, clean the windshield, to get into the bed of the truck.

Thanks jlb. Kind of what I thought. I was thinking of a 1 foot long piece aluminum with a 3/8" hole with a bolt bolted in the hole. Then reach in with the aluminum and stick bolt in hole.

I have the Companion hitch as well. Its quiet no rattles at all. I installed it myself. Hardest part was getting up[ the nerve to cut a 4 inch hole in a new truck. I measured it so many times to make sure it was perfect.

I'm another B&W Companion hitch lover. We went with the slider version, but probably could have gotten by without the slider -- belt and suspenders, you know. We got ours from www.etrailer.com whom I also highly recommend.

I installed it myself and had just one problem. Somehow. as I was torquing down the main center bolt into the under-bed portion of the hitch, the sliding rod that releases the receiver wasn't fully engaged. It only went through the first hole in the receiver and not into the second one. Result: I totally bent the rod upward into the base of the hitch so tightly that the end of the rod had to be cut off by a local metal fabricator. I replaced the rod with a bolt that has a diameter significantly larger than the rod.

The hitch is so heavy, I doubt if I'll ever be taking it out of the truck but, if I do, I'll have to crawl under the truck and remove the bolt rather than just pulling the rod lever in the wheel well. Yes, the installation instructions said to be sure the rod was fully engaged before torquing down the big center bolt, but I must have skimmed over that part. You have been warned!

If you order this hitch (or any hitch for that matter) get the delivery person to use the lift on his truck to place it in the bed of your tow vehicle and, then, just cut the box from around the hitch Otherwise, you will need two or three helpers to lift it up to your bed. The total weight is 320 lbs.

I hope this helps someone out there in Montana Land.

Best wishes,

Phil

B&W for us. It's a great hitch. When we got ours,we were offered a free night of camping if we go for a factory tour.
