Thanks for pics. In 1969 we lived just outside Corrfield at Pensacola in an older Mansion Travel Trailer similar to some in the photos. Those January and February sunny days and walking on the beach at Santa Rosa Island, exploring Ft. Pickens, and the drive down to the bridge at Navar. As the song goes "those were the days my friend we thought they'd never end"...

Out here in the Enchanted Trails park on I-40 in Albuquerque they have a set of vintage RV's all set up and available to rent overnight if you want the experience. They have some that are in those pictures and others that are really cool. My favorite is the Hudson and a little egg shaped camper hooked together with matching paint.

Thanks, Carol. Only "old timers" such as I can fully enjoy the memory of those days!
Recumbant: We first came to Santa Rosa Island and Ft. Pickens in the Autumn of 1962 -- unbelievably during the most critical days of the Cuban Missal crisis, and we went all the way down to the Everglades.
In those days, Ft. Pickens was a Florida State Park and the gates were closed at sundown. We were held up by a drawbridge so arrived at the gate to find it locked. We turned around and pulled off the road to eat supper and, as my wife says, "Our tires went to China." We had no choice but to put up our tent out on the dunes and that is where we spent the night. Thankfully, before we went to sleep our car was rescued by some helpful fishermen. We have been back many times in the years following, but we will always remember that first night on Santa Rosa Island.

Thanks
When I was 7 in 1953 my aunt and uncle took me to spend the summer with them in Paducah Ky which would be 550 miles today. They lived in a trailer that looked very much like an Airstream. I think it was 24 feet long and was their home for several years while he did construction work. I think he worked on a power plant. I'm sure it was a big adventure for them. I know it was for me. The longest trip I had ever taken till then was 15 mile.

Yes great memories. Sadly my uncle along with 4 other men were killed in car wreck in 1954. He didn't follow my, Any of these new cars will last you a lifetime, if you drive em fast enough. My aunt lived to be about 90.
Thanks Lynwood
