N. Cascades highway towable?
I have a book on scenic drives. It mentions the N. Cascades International Loop thru the National Park and up into Canada. Has anyone been over this road? Should I camp and drive part of it without towing or are there pullouts for trailers?

There is a bit of a climb but the scenery is fantastic. I have been over the pass with a passenger car but not with an RV.

Drove Rt 2 from Glacier NP to Everett Washington. This portion was beautiful and no problem. Make sure to stop by Grand Coolee Dam for the 2 hour Laser Light Show on the front of the dam with the water flowing over it.

The road down to the dam parking lot is steep but we took our Monty down and back up with no problems. Parking lot had plenty of room.

What route are you taking hiway 2 or 20 there is a difference.

Hwy 20 is ok for towing. Just take your time.

Hwy-20 is a two lane road with passing lanes at most climes. Most traffic is on the weekends, but traffic during the week is light. Westbound there are some 5-6% climes and 6% downhill grades. If stopping for the night in the Eastern Washington area of Hwy-20 try the old west town of Winthrop, and stay in the Pearrygin Lake State Park or the private RV Park next to it. At Washington pass (road is NF-500) there is a great lookout of the hairpin turn on Hwy-20 and Liberty Bell mountain, Lookouts over Diablo lake are also worth stopping at.

Fire5er - is the hairpin curve on 20 doable with a Monty? Everyone else has said 20 is okay, but a real hairpin would seem too much.....

Is the hairpin curve on 20 doable with a Monty...Yes it is. It is a nice big wide sweeping turn that is more like a switchback. Don't worry about Hwy-20 RVers & truckers use it all the time during the summer. You will have a great time.
