Front Legs

We have a 3150, 2010.
Latest problem are the front legs. Yesterday when I was ready to leave I could not lift the trailer.

I could lower the front legs, retract the back legs and put the slides in but it was a no go for the front legs..... the motor tried to turn the legs and did very little.
Had the batteries checked--ok.

Help, we're going into canada for the summer...I think if I can get this fixed.

I had front leg failure early on. In my case, the shaft at the top of the jacks had sheared off at the top where the gear pin goes through. the shear pins were good, the shafts themselves were sheared. We were at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Called Lippert, they authorized Coast RV to do repairs. All has been well since.

We had a problem once that the front legs wouldn’t respond. I think in our case it was in a bind because afterward we’ve not had any problems with it since. I hope you are able to get it figured out.

Try to do it manually with the crank handle, as Bill-n-Donna said it could be in a bind the crank handle will help to unbind it.

Just watched a guy repair both legs on a Big Sky. The owner sucked the legs up to much causing the jack screw brackets to dislodge and bind real good. All turned out real good. I got a real technical lesson on landing gear disassembly and repair, the repair tech didn't charge me and the owner now has his legs marked with black marker (my suggestion learned on this site).

going to dealer today. problem seems to be when weight on the landing gear it doesn't want to lift.....
didn't think it should be a problem .....we have not changed anything....

Regarding the legs being sucked up too far. I'm guessing this is when the legs were retracted to get underway. Per other MOCers I learned that there is NO need for that and only wastes time (and battery). I "suck my legs up" only high enough to be level with the bottom of the truck's bumper. That would give plenty of clearance on dips and bumps and since my landing legs move slow, this saves plenty of time too.

Mazboy - I hope you get your problem fixed pretty soon - please keep us posted. Maybe you just got a weak motor. I have heard of dual motors being installed but that sounds like a pricey way to fix what should be solved with a proper single motor. My tongue weight is about 2600 lbs but the motor should be able to easily raise 3,000 or even 3,900 lbs (about 25% of the 15,500 GTWR of the newer and heavier Montys).
