electric awning

Retiring Dec 31 (yeah!) and going to start using the Monte a WHOLE lot more. Going to make some improvements/upgrades. On the list is an electric awning (the OEM and I are not good friends). Choices seem to be limited to Carefree and Dometic. I would greatly appreciate advice on which to consider from this extremely knowledgeable group. TIA.

I have both the electric and the old fashioned manual one. I see advantages in both. The old one is a pain to put up but it's strong. The electric one is easy to put up but don't leave it out if there is going to be much wind. If given my choice I will take the old manual one. I'm sure others will disagree but I have the manual one on my MH and the etectric one on my High County.

Despite the ease of use, the old one was much more adaptable to provide shade, and much easier to secure in mild to moderate winds. The automatic one is very subject to wind. Plus, you don't have to worry about electrical failure while extended. I would go back to my old manual one in a heartbeat.

We've had the Dometic for about 6 years now, 5 full-time and so far so good.

Either brand will work for you. We much prefer the electric. Winds pick up, push a button.

Agree with manual being the better and more robust version, but also agree that electric is much more convenient.
