another defective goodyear marathon

A few years ago we had a 15" Goodyear Marathon blow out on the road. This was on a Jayco Eagle, not a Montana. I heard the 16" Marathons were not as prone to blowing as are the 15 inchers but I'm no longer sure of that.

When we went to leave Elkhart, IN, last Friday morning, I checked the tires as I often do. We'd been there two weeks. The right rear was down to 20 psi. My air bubble took it only to 31 but that was enough to get it to a tire dealer (non-goodyear). I assumed I had picked up a nail and had a slow leak. He pulled the tire/wheel and immediately said it has a small separation. Looked like a slice in a big dimple to me. It was on the inside of the tire. So I had him mount the spare and we took off since we had a reservation at a park at Williamstown, OH. While there overnight I tripped to a dealer in Findlay, OH. A Goodyear dealer. He agreed it's defective but didn't have the size and couldn't get it until Tuesday. The park we were in was rather terrible. The water was sulpur, smelled and tasted horrible. When we got to the next park I had to drain the water heater as that water still stunk. Anyhow, we changed our route and headed to a bigger city, Columbus, OH. We arrived yesterday and the dealer here will have my tire this afternoon. We'll be off again tomorrow but thought I'd post about this tire while I can. I guess we were fortunate to catch it before hitting the road. A blowout can be expensive when it takes the fender skirt and pipes with it.
