Long Term Site in Fort Myers area
Hi All our MOC travellers. We are investigating spending a month or maybe 2 in the Fort Myers area or along the Western coast of Florida in January or February 2015. There are so many resorts to choose from and we thought we would ask the people who would know a good deal and have some recommendations for us. What would the price range be that we should be expecting to pay? Not having done this before there are so many things to consider and we have to start somewhere.
We are from Ontario Canada so travelling to Arizona or Texas every year is less desirable than to Florida, but that may end up being what we do if it is unreasonable in Florida.
Thanks

The Ft Myers area will be costly. Good Campground on both the coast are expensive. Our daughter and SIL live in Ft Myers beach and we can not afford anything there. We are near Disneyworld near the center of the State during the winter and it is a bit more reasonable.

Like richfaa said if you want to be in the Ft. Myers, or Ft. Myers Beach area is gets kind of pricey. You can go inland a few miles away from the beach and it gets cheaper. I will give you the name of a couple higher end places within a mile of the beaches you can contact for an idea on the high range. Gulf Waters RV Resort, 11301 Summerlin Sq. Drive, Fort Myers Beach FL 33931, and Siesta Bay RV Resort, 19333 Summerlin Rd., Fort Myers, FL 33908. Both places are rated very high. Siesta Bay doesn't allow any pets. Both places are top notch and very well managed. Hope this helps and maybe gives you a place to start your search.

You can stay at Riverside Rv Resort and Campground which is on the Peace River and about 5 miles off of I75 at Exit 170, Port Charlotte Florida. Rates are about $1000 month. This is where we are now and we are here every winter for the last few years. It isn't that far from the Ft Myers area and it a lot quieter here, traffic is much less, crime much less. www.riversidervresort.com 1-800-795-9733 email - riverside@desoto.net This place has 500 sites split between three areas...old section with tree cover, newer section that is open, and the lakes area which just opened in Oct of last year. Haven't stayed in any of them but have a condo across from Gulf Waters on Summerlin. Know others who have stayed there and they think its great. Siesta Bay is supposed to be nice too. The area there is great, beaches are convient even Ft Myers Beach if you take the trolley. Wife spends the winter there, I spend the winter in Vt working. Someone has to keep her in the lifestyle she likes!!!!

We have stayed in Texas for the last 10 years and pay less than $700.00 for 3 months plus electric. There
are many Canadians in the Rio Grand Valley, 3 couples in our immediate area that are good friends.
Even had 2 couples from Nova Scotia this past winter. Now that is a long trip. Your big decision is how
many amenities you want.
