Maxwell

It gets harder with each one, I said goodbye to our canine kid tonight, Max. Some of you met him in Goshen. Best damn hunter and companion. Died of a ruptured spleen at just short of six years old. Vet said it was probably due to a tumor within the spleen. He died peacefully and without any fear in his eyes. I'm thankful for that. Funny, that dog brought me closer to God tonight! May the squirrels be plentiful where you are ol' boy.

For anyone interested, these pic's that my daughter posted show what a big part of our life he is.

So very sorry to hear of your loss! I believe it does get harder as we get older, but we just have to love them and give them a safe and happy life while we have them. All the best to you.

You have my most sincere sympathy! It does get harder as we age, I think we become more aware of our feelings!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

May this bring some peace in your loss.

We recently lost one of ours as well, we had her 13 years and I miss her terribly, words do not do much good to ease the pain but try to keep the memory of Max fresh in your mind and in your heart, that's where he lives on.

Okay - that made me cry. I have never seen it before, but it makes me happy to know I will be met by one dog and two cats (at this point . . .). I just had to put my sweet kitty, Tiger, to sleep this past Sunday night. Something I had never heard of - Saddle thrombus. He was perfectly fine one minute - then total loss of back legs. He has been living with my son since we moved in our Monty, and I headed over as soon as Chris called me. He was the sweetest thing and I bawled like a baby all night. I asked a friend, "Why do we get so attached to these animals?" Her reply - "Because they teach us to love." So true. The pain in the end is almost unbearable, but the lifetime of memories are priceless.
