My detector is mounted on a panel below the fridge behind which is an open air space next to where the hot water heater sits. On one occasion, during very heavy winds blowing against the hot water heater side of the trailer, the detector would go off every time the hot water heater came on. Switched hot water heater to electric until the strong winds subsided, and has not occurred again. Not sure if this has anything to do with your problem, but it took us a lot of panic evacs from the trailer until I figured it out.

I think mine is defective. I just disconneted the battery. It's still going off. How do you shut it off.

A 12 guage shotgun works best! Really, you can take the screw out and pull it off the wall where it is and then unwire it! I had to do the same thing once but my problem was a converter going bad. Why it affected the propane sensor I don't know but it was the telltail sign. Once the converter was replaced, I hooked up the sensor again and have had no problems since. Keep us informed on what you come up with!

Send a message via Yahoo to NCFischers
Sometimes dust will effect the sensor. If you get a can of compressed air that is used to clean computer keyboards and blow it out, it may fix it.

Turn your propane off, maybe there actually is a leak.

X2. Ours came from the factory with a leak due to an over threaded pipe. Don't take a chance. Make sure you haven't a leak.

Check the manual, you can do a combination of things that reset it. Ours did this once and I just needed to push some buttons.

If its over 5 years old its saying its dead.
That's what happened to me last year in my 05.
Unscrew it from the wall, disconnect the 12 Volt wires and it will stop beeping.
Buy a new one and install it. Found the same one online.

X2 what RRMAN said. If you look carefully, it should have a drop dead date on it. Something we all should be aware of.

I had my sensor go off last year. After much looking I found that the disposable propane bottle on my portable grill was leaking. After using the grill I had placed it in the basement compartment planning on using it again later. Needless to say I won't do that again.

Everyone is correct. You must make sure no leak exists. Like car alarms people seem to always think its false alarm. Our's in our Komfort did the same thing. I contacted the manufacture by phone walked me through tests. Found out a voltage spike occurred frying the unit. Not uncommon so they say. Sent replacement to dealer and they paid for install.

If you google "what sets off a propane detector" you'll find a wealth of ideas of what the problem could be besides propane. Once again, first make sure you don't have a leak. After that it could be anything from fabric softener sheets, to the cat pan, to bug spray or almost anything that comes in a spray can, to just old age.

Exactly. They need to be replaced every couple of years and the expiration date is clearly marked on it. Mine went off last year and would not stop. Clipped the wires on it and promptly replaced it. All is good now.
