Reevaluating Lifestyle

Cathy and I have been fulltime RVing for over a year. We have enjoyed the luxury of a big, modern, 40' RV with all the amenities, AC, Microwave, Fireplace, King Size Bed, HDTV. We decided that we are going to go a little greener and do something to help the environment and the energy situation.

We have traded our home of the last year for a little older model with less amenities and it should help with the energy crunch. Of course we lost quite a bit when trading, but that is something we will have to live with.

Please tell us if we made the right choice???? Your feedback is extremely important to us.

Phil, Be extremely careful when you use the fireplace/furnace in your new rig. I'd also check it does not look like Mission tires, but they look pretty bad might want to consider replacing them. I see you will also need to do the air conditioner mod pretty quick. But I do like the new tool box on the front.
Good luck and many happy years with this model
Bob

You made the right decision - a lot less cleaning and waxing.

I am not sure you went "green", more like brown. But I am color blind anyway, so what do I Know.

Not a bad looking rig! No problem with bugs now-- you'll never see them-- or they may be able to fly out of the way with all that horsepower you have in the new rig! I would keep an eye out however for any woodpeckers that may want to follow you around. I'll bet the shower and bath facility in this new one will really put a smile on your faces also! Good luck with the new rig-- I'm very jealous!!!

Phil, I noticed that you were able to find one that had some recent mods. Such as the added turn signals on the front fenders, and the extra capacity gas tank behind the cab on the drivers side. Good luck in you travels in your new "baby",,,,,, err, I guess one of this vintage would have to be referred to as "granny".

Don't forget where the galley dump pull handle is located.

Nice trade up on the Chevy...is that a Dodge?

Looks like the decals are peeling.

That is not nice at all making fun of my trade-in like that. I am curious who changed the decals from Woody WV to Cody WYO though. By the way Phil, the tires will be worry free, they were made in Akron, OH back when good old fashioned rubber was used!!!

I have pics of all the mods I made, I am especially happy with the JT's and the multiple Hadleys. We have a chicken attached to the compressor and when we want to honk we just squeeze the chicken. The tool box is Vintage Sears and the tires are made in Egypt. My next mod, If I can get OZZ to help is wire it for a 22o VAC wash and dryer. EVDO Alex is doing the install for the internet and cell system. Jake brake is on the way and MorRyde will be beefing the suspension for me. I will need to see Lonnie for alignment and advice on Egyptian tires.. We use hogwash to clean the outside and the black tank dumps directly to the earth. Carefree of Colorado is working on retractable awning propelled by runoff from the moonshine tank. Montana has said they will register as an LLC (Lousy Looking Coach) so I can drive it in Colorado (sorry Brad) and evade the tax collectors. We are two happy campers....

Thanks Phil, I now have potato chips and milk all over my shirt and deep in my sinuses. Not to mention on my keyboard and laptop screen. I was going to suggest a Motosat Hughes system for the roof along with the 16 panel solar system. Then you could pull into a CG and charge them for the electricity you put back into the grid.. Phil,
You can park it at my place anytime you want!
The black water comes out on the left side, so you may want to park on the opposite side.

Robbie, tail gate is 2 x 2 pine with 8d nails, although not exactly louvered, there are a few spaces. The coors kegger on the side holds methane for extra power as the 120hp V4 engine does not put out enough HP. Got a letter from Rapid City SD Chamber of Commerce and they want me to paint it red, white and blue before I get to Rapid City, Ain't gonna happen. I was thinking of adding N2 to the wheels so it will run cooler Bilsteins are on order and will have to use the existing air lift bags until they come in. Thinking of replacing coal burning fireplace with an electric one, but not sure the Kipor will stay running long enough. Could not keep my king size bed either, had to go with single cot. I am concerned about my weight though, may be a little over gross......
