FIRE WORKS SALES

Another sign of the economy,,, The man I talked to owns ten fireworks stands through out the city of Topeka.

Sales are down 95% from last year, of course he told me anyone that would buy fireworks with the economy the way it is are either idiots or on goverment assistance.

He has closed down half of his stands to eliminate the employee costs.

I would have to agree, as hard as the dollar is to earn, I sure can think of a whole lot better ways to PLEASE THE GRANDKIDS....

Happy Holdays Everyone and Safe TRavels John

We usually buy one of the combo packages at Wal-Mart (ground fireworks) for the girls to watch on the night of the 4th. Long-time family traditions are hard to do without. There will be bright flashes, whistles, and some bangs in the front yard tonight along with Dad's burnt arm hair from lighting the fiery contraptions!!! Happy 4th everyone!!!

I'm sure some folks depend on those things for their livelihood, but I sure wouldn't waste my money on them. On the other hand, we sure enjoy watching the fireworks out on the island. We can sit in our chairs outside at night and see them out across the water. Beautiful!

When all kinds of fireworks were legal in Oklahoma and Missouri I would load up the car on my return trip and blow up the neighborhood in Ohio on the 4th. Had the fire department show up once because of the cloud of smoke over our house. Asked if we were shooting off fire works..Not here said I face blackened and smelling like explosives. Those were the good old days. Oklahoma city would look like a war zone.Rockets flying everywhere wood shingle roofs burning, fire engines screaming..constant rumble of explosions..just can't have any fun any more.

They are illegal in Colorado. If they leave the ground they can't be set off.

Never worked out that way Jim, Cathy handed me one of those long barbeque starter lighters ao the fireworks went off without a hitch. Natures fireworks immediately started after we got done, so God outdid me. Now we have two hard days ahead of us of painting, patching, cleaning, etc. to get our house ready to sell. Exciting times at our household as we are sprinting to get everything done before the annual trip to Myrtle. I am trying to convince DW that we REALLY need to take a break Sunday so we can do a visual inspection of the new house from the river. Sounds like pretty good justification (to me of course) for a couple of hours of boat time squeezed in. We shall see. Trusting that everyone had a great 4th!!!
Blessings to all,
Bingo
