2017 at $87K? How do you do that? I have a King Ranch Ultimate 4x4 Crew with almost every single option you can get and it was $79K. See sticker attached -

Reply: so not quite sure what you mean. How did I get it so cheap? Or How come so expensive? If you notice my comments and Location I'd think it was apparent we are talking Pricing from 2 different countries and 2 different currencies. If I apply today's exchange rate my sticker price equates to $69,000 in Greenbacks vs your sticker of $79,000 for an optioned up KR.
Going the other way your sticker equates to $100,000 in Loonies. I'm sure Ford gets a better exchange rate than me so the gaps would narrow slightly.

Me either. I'm quite happy running 63 - 67 and maybe 70 while passing. Been passed by a Caddy Escalade doing at least 85 pulling a TT. So heavy on the tongue he probably saw little other than sky. Chains were sparking and could not have had more than 4" from the hitch to the road.

If the speed limit gives me 75 I'm going to run 75 where I'm not heavy traffic. Sorry but I see no problem with that. That's what speed limits are for.

Quite legal and not a problem. I'm never in that big a hurry so keep it between 63 and 68 ~~ maybe 70 passing. With 15,000 pounds behind me, just more comfortable a little slower.
Taking a trip tomorrow. Total is about 760 miles. Breaking it down with an overnight in a nice CG right off the interstate. When I was working I have gone farther than 760 miles on each leg,,, no reason now. Even then, with family along I still kept the speed around 65 tops.

I'm sure someone does. I have a V10 motor home. It has about the same power as the 6.2. It will pull a large camper but you will quickly learn why a Diesel engine is much superior to a gas engine. A Diesel engine develops its power at low RPMs and a gasoline engine at much higher RPMs. Say 2000 V 4000 and a gasoline engine looses 3.6 % of its power for every 1000 feet of elevation if it's not turbo charged.
I pulled a smaller 5er from Va to Wy ONCE with a gasoline came home and bought a diesel.
I will say if you aren't going far or fast a 6.2 will work for you.

Pros of a 3/4 gasser ~~ a lot more payload than a 3/4 diesel

Cons ~ fuel mileage sucks, crawls up hills, really crawls up a mountain, engine often screams, transmissions get hot...

I tow with 2017 f350 6.2. I have no problem doing 65 up steep hills.I ordered it with 4.10 rear end. I have never seen transmission temp go up. I had a 2011 f350 with 6.2. very happy with it. I tow a 305rl HC. 1200lbs loaded. Truck rated to tow 15,800 5th wheel. maybe 20 years ago that was problem, but not now.

I don't know about the new gassers, but when I bought my diesel, the biggest draw back to a gasser was a very low GCWR They had high payloads, but couldn't tow much, maybe they've fixed that now.

We just bought a 2017 F350, has 20” wheels .... our 2014 3155RL is a bit nose high when pulling but the pickup sits level which I like ... my 2012 2500 Duramax didn’t until I put air bags on it . We live in Montana so 4WD is a way of life

hmmm

Have a 2017. Yes it is high in the rear. Stepped out of a DP, bought the F250 SRW PS to pull a 5er. I am a total newbie to the 5er situation. So in reading this post I see I did not know anything about the height of the truck bed vs. the 5er. I am looking at a Montana 3160RL, so question to those in the know...what do I NEED TO KNOW, when purchasing this 5er and using my truck? Will the bed height be an issue? If it is, is there a way to adjust for the height of the truck bed?...wow...here we go again....I spent hours and hours on the web when looking for my DP....don't mind the research...you learn so much..but I sure do get tired of the ...."well CRAP wish I had know that's!"...thanks for replies everyone...will pull the trigger soon...getting a different truck is not an option...and really love the 3160RL so trying to make this all work!

Tell the dealer, get it in writing, when you leave the truck/5er will be level. If they have to do nothing, adjust the pin box and or hitch or even block the 5er. My 2016 F350 needed nothing to pull my Cougar or the current Montana and both truck and Montana are level. It seems more likely with all 2017 model trucks there is the nose high problem. The longer the trailer the more pronounced at the rear.

When I bought my previous 2007 F350 FX4, Ford actually had a TSB (technical service bulletin) that advised those trucks may be too high in the rear to tow a 5er. TSB solution was to replace the 4" blocks under the axles with 2" blocks to drop the rear 2". I had the dealer do that. When I traded for my current 2012 F350 FX4 I did not do it and my 3075RL does sit a little nose high. But not enough to be a problem. But with the new trucks being about 2"-3" higher than my 2012 it would sit too high.

I don't know if the TSB is still being issued, or if the block change is still an option. Worth asking. If I bought a 2017 I would want to drop the rear a little. They are just far to high to be practical.

I have the demco 18k autoslide in a 2017 f350 4x4 SRW short bed with factory 5er prep. Its set on the lowest setting and i am level. I am a little close to the top of the tailgate though. It about 4 inches so i have to be carefull on unlevel ground when parking. I am towing a 381TH.

4" is tight. I'd watch going over RR tracks especially in rural areas where they are built up higher than the road. My Cougar was right at 5" and I never had a problem.
