Curt 24K Fifth Wheel Hitch

Does anyone have experience with the Curt hitch? We are moving from a short box truck to a long bed and can move away from our Superglide after all these years. Any comments and info will be appreciated.

Nothing negative or obvious. Like the basic Valley/Husky hitch I have, just make sure it meets or exceeds your rating needs. I have a TV rated to tow a 15,400 fifth wheel. My Fiver weighs no more than 14,500, and the hitch is rated for 16,000. I think that's plenty of margin. Others do even better. I rarely hear of a hitch problem except when the operator does something wrong. No bad news from anybody about hitch failures, but plenty of stories of not hitching correctly.

I have the Curt Q16 and am happy with it so far - I got it back in August. The articulating head plate is nice when on uneven terrain.

I have the curt Q20 and have no problems. My neighbor has a Reese and now loves mine after borrowing it and has purchased one also.

I have the Curt Q20 as well ... fit right on Reese rails already in my truck. Hitch is easy to use, sturdy, and the articulating head has worked well for me. 2 keepers and 2 pins and the head separates from the body. The color coded hitch handle is near fool proof when hooking up. You do need to keep the clam shell jaw mechanism lubed or they have a tendancy to stick a bit.

I have had a Curt for 18 months, replacing a Reese, and think it is a great hitch. Fit right on the Reese rails. Has zerk fitting for greasing, has a locking bar with red, green, and yellow color codes telling you when set for hitching, unhitching and towing. Jaws wrap around the King Pin 360 degrees which I like.

Got a Q20 when we bought our new/used Monty. Have over 25k miles towing with it and no problems save a couple of the rubber bushings for the pins holding the two parts together fell apart while on our last trip. This might have added a little noise to everything, but otherwise caused no problem. Curt sent me a whole set of replacements, no questions asked.

I have the Curt Q24 hitch and love it!! We replaced a Reese 16k. The 360 degree articulating head is really great on uneven terrain. Very quiet while towing with NO clunking due to a loose fitting hitch. The color coding on the handle is almost fool proof and very helpful! The higher load rating of the Q24 gives us peace of mind that the hitch is extremely strong and we will never have to worry about overloading it. Highly recommend this hitch.

I have the Q16 and it seems easy to use and I like the plastic disc that came with it so I don't have to grease the surface, since I take it out after each use, which is also very simple just 4 pins. this is my first 5th wheel so nothing to compare with.

I have that hitch on my F450. Been an excellent piece of equipment these past three years. You can trust this American designed and made hitch, it's easy to hook up and unhitch. Curt is also great to work with and will answer all questions. I can hitch up at an angle if necessary, and it's safety features make me confident of the connection. The hitch looks like the day I got it. No rust or wear of any kind.

We have a Q20. I have nothing to compare to, but I get a chuck every time I move from a stop. I don't know if it's normal or not. In transit there is no movement and very comfortable. It's not uncommon for me to have to move the truck and change the tension on the kingpin to get it to release, and I have to close the jaws manually when disconnected. I feel like I'm still getting used to it.

Sometimes I have to also move the truck backwards slightly to take pressure off the jaws when unhitching. Found that to be the case with all our hitches. You do not have to manually close the jaws when disconnected. The hitch is designed so the jaws remain open facilitating rehitching. Unlike a reese, if you back your kingpin into a curt with the jaws closed, you will damage the hitch. Letting the truck creep forward a second before starting out generally eliminates chucking.

If anyone is looking for a Curt Q24 for a Ford with factory prep J C Whitney has them for $486 plus an additional 10% off through 12/27. This is by far the best price I have seen.
