TV Airbag Recall

I had my recall notice about three weeks ago. So I called my local Dodge Dealer and they said as soon as the parts came in they would call Me. They called on Wednesday Morning and set an appointment at 4 p.m. I drove the 25 miles one way and when I got there, they said the internet just went down and they would have to reschedule. So I got a call this Morning on Thursday and reset for 4 p.m. again. I when in and I gave up my notice and my keys. I occasionally looked up at my truck where it was parked in the lot, It never was moved. Then about 20 mins later I saw a tech drive it around and back in front of the service center office where I was sitting and they said it was done. I questioned why I have never seen it moved from the lot and the service manager said it was installed and flashed in the lot for the passenger side? So that is why It was never moved. I am never going to be sure they actually did anything, but I have the paper work saying it was done. If I have an accident and get hurt by the air bag I guess We can go back against the dealership, what say you? thanks for the advice.

Twenty minutes seems unrealistic to deinstall,, reinstall, and flash.

I would be tempted to take it to another dealership and check to see if work was actually done. You can't trust most of these dealerships. They also add things that don't need to be done when servicing when they know you have warranty which is a cash cow to them.

Doesn't seem right to me either and if the passenger side needed to be done why not the drivers side?

So if the drivers side needed to be done it goes inside but for the passengers side it can be done in the parking lot???? Never heard of dealership repair work being done in the parking lot. I would take it to another dealer and have them certify the work was done. Getting hurt by a bad air bag is one thing getting killed is another. I for one would not want to lose my life styl and the ability to do this RV thing because of a lazy dealer. Just saying is all.

I would stay away from that dealer. Sounds shady to me!

I think I didn't explain, this right!! It was the Driver side that was supposed to be replaced. The service manager said the tech got in on the passenger side to do the work. I over a hundred miles from the next dealer, I may call them and ask their opinion. See how long it takes them to install and flash.

I talked to a park resident, that had been a Master Mechanic for 25 years and he said that the recall was a blanket action. Some of the year trucks air bags were ok. They check when they are brought in and if the number is one that is ok. They check it and it take no time at all. They do the paper work and let Dodge know and you are good to go. So I suppose that's what happened in my case? He also said the dealer would not say it was ok, unless they were sure because if I was in an accident and got killed due to the air bag, they would be responsible and forced out of business.
