Sagging roof on Large Slide 2006 3400rl
Ran into a water leak this weekend when I washed the RV. Found that the top slide gasket was not in contact with the roof in the middle of the large slide. Upon further inspection and the use of a level, found that the slide roof is sagging down in the center about 3/4 of an inch. I have read in some posts where people have pulled out the 2 vinyl wrapped particle boards that are immediately behind the decorative fascia along the top of the inside of the slide. These boards were then replaced with a harder wood such as oak, then reinforced with angle iron to achieve increased stability. Anyone else experience this problem and know of other fixes?

I have a 2980 and had the same problem. The dealer shop foreman suggested that I remove the board behind the oak front panel thing on the slide and simply turn it upside down. I did this and it helped for about a year, but it also sags a bit.
I store it for almost 9 months a year and prop up the center of it with a 2x4 cut to length. Don't know if this is helping, but the seal still contacts the roof. Sometimes it doesn't 'flip' all the way out when the slide extends tho (which is what can lead to water getting inside), so I 'help' it flip out. Must be careful of this tho, as after a couple of years the seals get brittle and tear easily (the voice of experience).

Dustin, you don't say what year or model your rig is. If it is still under warranty, it's back to the dealer for the fix. It might be worth your time to call Keystone for suggestion if out of warranty. Sorry you are having the problem.

If it is under warranty call Keystone.. had the same issue with our 06 3400 and the fix was as you described. Keystone did the fix but it was under warranty.

Hey Stiles, he did say an 06 3400 model. I had the same problem but it was caught under warranty. The dealer took the facia off and braced it up somehow. After that I went and had a slide topper installed just to be safe.

Thought I would follow up with the fix I did in case anyone else needs to do so. It was much easier than I thought.
1) Remove decorative fasica. 3 pieces. Easily pries off
2) Jack up the center of the slide using a car jack. Do not get carried away as the aluminum was meant to be straight and not crowned upward.
3) Remove 1 x 6 x 12 board to expose aluminum frame.
4) Take a piece of 3/16 gauge 1.75" x 12 foot angle iron (Painted to prevent any rusting and screw that to the aluminum.
5) Replace 1 x 6 x 12 board ( I preferred to use oak but was unable to find x a 12 foot piece) I just flipped the board upside down so that the bow was crowning upward and pried it into place against the angle iron.
6) Remove jack
7) replace fascia.
This resolved my problem quite well. It will most likely last for a long time. Hope this may help others.
Dustin
